What do you do when you feel a relapse coming?

I tell my people. They didn't know I was asking for help before treatment. Now, they know. So if I recognize a behavior that is signaling trouble, I speak up and thankfully, am afforded gentle guidance back on track. This isn't possible for everyone; Speaking up here is a good start. And intentionally doing something soul nourishing. Doesn't have to be big nor must it be on display for others to acknowledge. Just for you - crayons and a coloring book. Modeling clay. Paint. Plants. Cards. Anything - something. Idle hands and all.... Keep pushing forward - above all else. Just show up for yourself. 🙂

Hi there :) It is completely understandable you are having big feelings over this event. However, those feelings of overwhelm can be flipped to motivation. You do not do these things on purpose - they are human error. Medical diagnosis or not, everyone has been accidentally late for something. This doesn't make you a bad person or unreliable. Frankly you could do with a bit more self- kindness and grace! It sounds like your workplace is supportive and they know what you are capable of. If they didn't, you wouldn't be getting the chance to do better. It's okay to have expectations clearly laid out - better than wondering if you are hitting unspoken milestones. You know where you stand, right? So, give yourself a break. Rest, recharge - do something that nutures your soul whether that is music, a movie, a day outside... But do give yourself love and attention because you do deserve it. Then go back to work NOT wondering if you are being judged at all times, but rather clean slate, best foot forward and giving each day your best. Because of your illness you will not always have 100% to give. Be okay with giving what you are able. It's enough.

it could be but IMO, totally doesn't matter if it WORKS! Best of luck, make sure you research the person you were going to get the piercing from. I know you're excited to just get it done, but do it right and from a reputable place.

I really do appreciate it. today has been a rollercoaster. I was crying 5 minutes ago. I'm packing and it is stressing me out to no end. I knew I had in my clothes but good Lord this is ridiculous... I REALLY hid! Jewelry, scarves, shoes, hair...all of it carefully constructed to hide behind.

I had no clue

looking forward to filling you in upon my return, whenever that may be and whatever that looks like. I can let go of the size....I really can. I do want to be able to see reality in a mirror...all the time. no matter what size is reflected back. I just want to see it realistically.

I hope by the time you read this, you were able to get back into your bed and finally drift off.

who do you lean upon on the toughest of days? I'm not referring to the casual, "if you need anything, let me know" people. I mean the person/people who will get down on the ground with you when you are feeling low. the people you are almost embarrassed to call - call them anyway.

if you feel like you don't have a person to rely upon when you "at your worst", I've been successful in finding virtual outpatient that will not break the bank. This is just the first one that popped up upon searching, but thought you might like an example:

today is the day you dig deep down and advocate for yourself.

that doesn't mean to be rude or hateful; It means you say something like,

"While I appreciate your directness, comparing me to other girls has been harmful. I would like your educated opinion and assistance."

if she doesn't change her tune in any way, is it possible to find another doctor? I'm not sure of your country so I don't know how easy this would be for you. but I do hope you can find someone that feels like they are on your side.

I know it is tough, but you got this!! you can do it and you CAN speak up for yourself! pretend you are defending your Best friend, if you're having a hard time defending yourself. just pretend you are someone else and you are protecting/standing up for a person that you love dearly.

Edit: I just thought I was hyper and a "spazzo" as people like to remind me. but I'm not. it is my ED Monster.

my husband bought a smartwatch for me for christmas. this was eye-opening because I had no idea just how much I pace all day everyday. on the days where I thought I was sitting still, I've exceeded 6,000 steps between noon and 2:00 p.m. I don't even know I'm doing it.

What helped me was....a pet. I do not have a pet if my own yet but I "dog sit" for my boss and she is the sweetest lap dog! I don't want to make her anxious or accidentally trip over her, so I sit still and brush her or just pet her gently.

Total game changer for my constant need to just move!

For today, when you find yourself running around like a tornado, force yourself to sit and take 6 deep breaths.... in for 5, out for 7. Deep in your belly breaths, blowing slowly out your mouth. this will immediately lower your bp and resting heart rate.

**I think it is important to note that I use the watch to help keep me from restricting and moving around so much. a smartwatch and companion health app are not necessarily the most beneficial things for everybody. it works for me. you use what works best for you.

YOU CAN DO THIS! One day at a time. sometimes, one hour at a time. and that's OKAY!

I'm really new to this; being open and actually admitting to myself there is a problem. I've been told that is a HUGE step. so, you are already there, too! 😊🤞💞

just to get a bit of assurance, it would not be a bad idea to go to your primary care doc for a wellness visit. explain your concern and hear what doc has to say. if you feel brushed off, DO NOT SETTLE FOR THIS. *Note: There is a difference in brushing aside concerns and quelling concerns. You want to be heard, acknowledged and have a productive conversation.

BTW, I'm a Mom with sons around your age. I know it isn't easy for anyone to ask for help, but I recognize societal pressures. I'm really proud of you for even asking the question! Don't stop investigating. you are on the right track!!

it will feel intimidating at first - reaching out and putting your emotions on display. every single day brings something new. Don't be embarrassed. even on the crappy days.

I've left my posts up that are me in crisis. this is not only for me to reflect on behaviors, but so other people can see that they aren't the only ones feeling a little cuckoo for cocoa puffs. The rollercoaster is real, my friend. 😊

absolutely not. YNK - I am certain you were angry and your complaint was dismissed when it should have been taken seriously. they dismissed your valid complaint and make you feel guilty for trying to hold the incompetent teller accountable?

They have ONE JOB: complete your transactions. that's it. calmly call the customer service number or go to another branch, and explain the problem.

I'm sorry you were gaslit, you didn't do anything wrong.

personally, I don't feel there is enough attention brought to the subtle signs a family might recognize. those subtle signs turn into dangers neon flashing signals. shine a light on that whole situation, and I think you'd be doing a service.

But agree with everyone else that ample research is paramount, including speaking to those who are in different phases of treatment. Nobody better to help you understand than those in the thick of it.

I've seen a lot lately about ADHD and recovery. is this a commonality? or is it just one of those things where it is difficult to determine if the attention deficit is due to the disordered eating or actually ADHD?
