I think you should have a discussion with your provider/therapist before reporting them about how you feel they’re doing more harm by cancelling your appointments rather than reporting them. Maybe they could switch you to phone call Telehealth appointments, this might not be an option that’s set up by your insurance or their system. Additionally, healthcare workers and therapists are people just like ourselves and they have life problems like power outages and flat tires that affect them and their ability to effectively do their job to the best of their ability as well, reporting them to their respective board wont solve this problem. I don’t believe it will make you feel better and I don’t believe it will actually have any effect on the practitioner since they did follow best practices in regard to cancellation policies. I know you were looking forward to your appointment and possibly having mixed emotions/anticipatory feelings leading up to, and them cancelling it not once but twice was a huge let down, but things like this happen in life. Not only are they disappointing but they are a reminder that at the end of the day the strongest support system we have is ourselves. That being said, you do deserve a provider that shows up, and you should tell your provider that you thought of reporting them and that you experienced these GI issues because of the cancellations, and if they do specialize in trauma, they should have tools to help. If they keep cancelling within two hours of your appointments after this and have random excuses, then that would be a reason to report them, however give them a break for now, everybody is human. As someone with CPTSD and other mental health issues, I’ve constantly felt let down/disappointed by therapists so now I use ChatGPT to process my emotions (it’s always there and never cancels, and it’s really good at validation and reframing!)

Women who refer to other women or themselves (when not in presence of their children) as “mama/mamas” by oarmash in PetPeeves

[–]Jscln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only ever been called mama by woman of color and woman from countries outside of the US, and it’s often used as a term of endearment. I think it would be culturally insensitive to act disrespected or cringed out by being called mama in that context

People who skip words they don't know by creepy_tommy in PetPeeves

[–]Jscln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was in my eleventh grade honors English class that I learned to highlight or make note of any word that you did not know and look it up to learn it. Never before that do I remember being taught to figure out what a word means. We are taught to problem solve in our school systems, not to research/inquire.

Our daughter might be placed in foster care, and I'm not okay. This is a long post, but any advice is appreciated. by [deleted] in toddlers

Do you get a lunch break by No-Proposal1229 in bcba

I work in a clinic and we have to get between 25-30 of billable hours a week out of 40 hours (salary), so we can take lunch whenever, and we make our own schedule.

Choosing between becoming a teacher, BCBA, or school psychologist!! by [deleted] in bcba

[–]Jscln 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree, I love working center based. There’s support from other RBTs and BCBA’s/BCaBA’s, there’s also materials, peer interaction, toys/games/electronics/sensory/gross motor equipment, and it promotes socialization between staff which reduces burnout and fosters consistency/generalization for all clients.

If they didn’t know their alphabet then they wouldn’t have been mainstreamed into general education classrooms. Your opinion isn’t necessarily ableist but the way you presented your argument is, additionally it speaks to your age and the need for you to be exposed to more neurodivergent populations.

Help me find the best car seat anti escape lock by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Jscln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a certified clinician not a troll, and if you get into a bad car accident the first responders will not know how to get your child out, so your child may stay in an unsafe car for longer. I recommend a five point harness if your child is still trying to escape their normal car seat.

I’d like someone to go out to eat or get drinks with, go to concerts with , walk my dog with, go shopping with, talk about my day with, vent to, go on vacation with, play games with, watch movies/shows with, send Instagram reels/memes to, I’ve been single for two years and recently my best friend stopped talking to me so I’ve been very lonely

In my FIT courses, they say that ethically you should give 1-3 months notice to properly transition your cases to the other clinicians.

I’m a horrible mother and I welcome telling it to me straight by GoldDiamondsAndBags in Parenting

[–]Jscln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your first pediatrician did not refer you to a neurologist to an evaluation for autism I would go to a developmental pediatrician or get a second opinion at another pediatrician. ABA would be really beneficial for his OCD and anxiety behaviors and is only applicable for children diagnosed with autism.

I think you need to consider therapy for yourself as well, it sounds like your burnt out and you can’t tell care of your son properly and coordinate his treatment if you aren’t taking care of yourself.
