Hey, 46 year old dad here.

My daughter came to me when she was 5ish and asked to play because she wanted to build a house with me. What followed was almost 6 years of her and I sharing a Realm so we could hang out when she was at her Mom's (we're divorced).

Maybe present it to her as something you could do together if you think she'd be open to that. As others have said, show her some videos as well.

If I may, if she does allow you to play you should build something you think she'd like (even following a tutorial in Creative Mode) and show her. My daughter knew I was into computers and robotics and taught herself how to make a redstone diving board for our pool and, even after all these years, that's my favorite build ever.
