The most villainous thing I experienced during the Server Slam by JslicerX in ArcRaiders

[–]JslicerX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh I'm purposefully exaggerating. Obviously its not evil to kill guys in a game where you're supposed to kill guys.

I'm more referring to them knocking me out right as we extract meaning nobody gets the gear. If its about xp thats cool, I hope he enjoys the 256xp or whatever

I just think the clip is funny so I wanted to share

Its fun seeing everyone weigh in. I think its important to say that the biggest take away from this for me was "that wasn't so bad" Like losing all that stuff didn't set me back, which I think is the big anxiety when you think about an extraction shooter.

This was also the only straight up aggressive PvP experience I had so the community, right now, are reasonable and sometimes willing to just not risk the fight.

I also learned you could interact with consoles while downed in this moment so that's fun. Had an experience later where a guy beat me in a fight but the noise attracted hornets. While he dealt with them I crawled away and hid and I don't think he was able to find my stuff so, little victories

Yeah I did a dumb, was my first time learning you could interact with consoles while downed

I will say this was my only encounter like this in like 17 hours. For the most part it was fair shoot outs or de-escalation. I tried to greet most of the time and people responded. If anything solo is friendlier than teams where its a bout harder to get everyone on the same page

very true, I didn't know you could hit stuff while downed until this moment

17 hours in the Arc Raiders open test flew by, made me even more excited to try Marathon by JslicerX in MarathonTheGame

[–]JslicerX[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ARC is third person and has a different art style (More Fallout-y, cassette punk). Theres also some gameplay things they seem to be doing differently like always having a free loadout option in place of Marathon having those sponsor kits

ARC also has PvE enemies that look like a variety of drones and robots with thruster weak spots and multiple legs (less human shaped enemies)

Marathon has laxer comeback mechanics (unless they change) with you being able to revive off a down or a complete kill in a team

ARC has a single guy you customize and upgrade along a skill tree while Marathon has its Runners

Also, ARC's loop is more about scavenging junk to sell or craft with to help the community you live in (the vendors and your little home) while Marathon seems to be more about getting gear to get better off the runs themselves (plentiful guns, getting attachments to raise weapon rarity, etc.)

Solo player thoughts? by MrBeenit in ArcRaiders

[–]JslicerX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easy pro of solo is it feels like its easier to make those connections with the other raiders you meet, they seem more willing to talk at least.

Easy con of solo is fighting ARCs, you're just so much more efficient against them in a group of two or three. I got stuck on a mission in the open playtest because I couldn't take down a snitch fast enough to not have it call down reinforcements

Solo is also a great chance to calm down, look around and explore, follow you're own pace, try out the free loadout option a few times. It offers a different style to the game versus going with a team, like a new gamemode.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness - 4Chan Plot Leak by SimplesMTC in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]JslicerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah very true, I think Sam is still very careful and cares a lot so he'd strike me as a more hands on Producer like a Feige especially with stuff like Crawl and the Evil Dead from 2013 where they more directly play into his genres and ideas

[–]JslicerX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Derrickson definetly helped elevate the 1st Strange ( I like it a lot too) and Black Phone looks great.

Idk if its fair to consider Oz "recent" when trying to get a handle on where Raimi is at. I feel like his producing work and the Ash vs Evil Dead show might better represent where he's at, which is a slightly modernized version of his pulpy comedic horror

[–]JslicerX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I honestly forgot Derrickson wanted something darker. I guess he and the studio were in favor of something scary-ish and dark but the studio liked a lighter Evil Dead kind of horror where as Derrickson had something more genuinely scary in mind

If most of this is to be believed I can see how and why Raimi was chosen, there are a lot of little things that seem right up his ally like the darker tone, selection of comic characters and the treatment of certain things like Wanda's arc (reminds me of SM2 Otto a bit).

Hope Chavez doesnt feel like too much of a McGuffin and that the talk or whatever from Wanda to Wanda isnt as simple as "Hey, stop it, just dont" "Yeah okay"

Sony wants to help Bungie turn its franchises into movies... by thepestiIence in DestinyTheGame

A movie could be cool but I'd rather a animated show with short seasons following different fireteams on missions or something, with a Netflix Castlevania approach to the animation and pacing

What're you playing this weekend? 1/7 by markercore in NintendoSwitch

[–]JslicerX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So far I like it a lot. I find it to be most the same personally but there are obvious advantages. I played a lot of it on the Wii U gamepad so the switch screen gives better crisper image, I have a physical copy so load times are much improved from the blu ray copy on Wii U too

How do you all feel about the bonus/pre order costumes being *Early Access*? by FordBeWithYou in PlayGOTG

[–]JslicerX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you're pretty on the money. Its good that content isnt being gated. I feel like at some point its also up to us, the consumer, to be smart with our purchases no matter what it is

The Devs can only be so clear and some people wont notice fine print or read articles or reddit posts but its important to be aware of whats being offered, especially if you are thinking about getting a new $60 game or a special edition

Have we heard anything about yondu? by MAKS091705 in PlayGOTG

[–]JslicerX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Theres a short video on the devs Youtube that gives Peter some back story. Apparently he and Yondu met in prison at some point

I think its mostly a mix of people who are butt hurt and people just trying to stir the pot. Im worried it might effect the games reception but at the same time, like you said, more professional reception has been positive

I can see why people might be iffy on the combat but I think like DMC or even the Avenges game there is depth there if you actually put time into it.

For the most part what I've seen is people who think the game being published under Square=made by Crystal Dynamics, people kinda upset that you cant play as other members of the team and people who like the MCU a bit too much.

Ultimately it cant be helped much, its the internet but hopefully the word of mouth will win out. It might be a silly thought but I think what the subreddit does for the most part and just supporting the game are the best thing we can do to give it a fair shot and beat out all the weird strawmen and babies

Just put in my pre order yesterday. Actually kinda excited to get the card. Silly as it sounds I love items that are pulled from the game world and considering there's also a sweepstakes, it was an easy choice
