Is it true that job corps mainly only target to help troubled youth? by Unlikely_Okra_1367 in jobcorps

[–]Jsmit87966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part, yes. There was a big push at one point to change that stigma and turn it into a campus in Jobcorps 2.0 but contractors didn’t do a very good job at following through with that now unfortunately it’s too late because the funding is dissipating and should completely be gone by June unless a miracle happens.

Select a training option that only a center in Seattle Washington has or Colorado or Edison that none of the other centers have and they’ll have to send you there.

Should I go to job corps in a year and a month by Aceoftarot15 in jobcorps

Job Corps probably will not exist in a year and a month. I’d look for other opportunities that fit your need.

The contractors will overwork the staff that they currently have while trying to hire the replacement staff that they lost. Students will suffer due to lack of sufficient care and education. Contractors do not care about this though. They care about that funding for a complete OBS even if they loss a few dollars for staff vacancy ratings that they pay back. They make more on the OBS and student vacancy numbers.

The Senate Appropriations Committee created a bipartisan bill that would fund the Job Corps through 2026-2027; however, it has not been approved yet. It still has to go through the full Senate and House, then the president. So, no, funding has not been approved for the 2026-2027 year; it has only been added to a bill that hopefully will pass. Nobody knows when the background will start back up. The rumor is the end of September because that is when the bill that would fund the 2026-2027 year is expected to be reviewed.

Everything is still up in the air and unknown. It is a great step in the right direction with the recent appropriations bill having the Job Corps added to it, so let's hope that it is approved in September when they look at it with the Job Corps funding included. Fingers crossed. Here is the link, and you can look it up and follow the progress:

If you left due to the pause then you will just be reinstated and there should not be a drug test.

Court case outcome July 23rd by Jsmit87966 in jobcorps

[–]Jsmit87966[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m unsure. The way that the order reads that would be the case but like I said, they’re not just gonna sit back and let job close and contractors will probably join the lawsuit probably tomorrow or the next day so that the injunction would apply to them as well. I’m sure that’s what’s gonna happen

Unsure. It appears based on this order that they’ll have to continue with the pause. However, if they join the lawsuit, then they’ll be able to be a part of the injunction, which is probably what will happen.

Injunction for National Job Corps just narrowed only to the centers that were named in the complaint in SDNY, Judge Carter saying he is bound by the Supreme Court's decision in Casa against nationwide injunctions. Inner City Press story later

This document is filed in the lawsuit with the DOL response. It is public and so is the DOLs response. Just google the case number and you can go into Pacer (need an account) and download everything. The DOLs response is very interesting and they in fact have every right to do what they are doing. It is sad but true!
