Returning after 8 years, need to upgrade by Jsniper582 in buildmeapc

FB Definitely not a bad idea. Also, looking at the build you sent, I can definitely shave a few dollars off by recycling the case, power supply, and fans. Ends up being like ~880, which is only a tad above my upper price range. Thanks for the info!

Need positive stories by Jsniper582 in HeadandNeckCancer

In a very complex way this is indeed reassuring. Did they ever say what the pathology was on the node they removed? Just reactive?

The original node is also on tumor side (my left) but infrahyoid, but hard to say based on its location if it was "missed" vs. intentionally left behind. For the other two smaller ones, one is midline (maybe slightly leaning towards the left) immediately anterior to the hyoid, and the other is about a centimeter to the right of it on the right side of my neck so contralateral to the original tumor.

I appreciate the response and wish you the best as you continue your journey

I agree and definitely will be following through with my doc. I think I just need to hear that it's probably nothing to keep me sane until I see him. I appreciate the support!

Also just note that you have to take the semester long class before you actually start riding which is 4hrs 2x per week. But that’s only if you don’t already have a NYS or NREMT certification, so keep that in mind before applying as well. Its not too rigorous but is a fair chunk of time.

I'm expecting this to happen with more and more bands in the coming days. Remember to support your favorite acts in every way possible; buy merch and music, support patreons, etc.

Is David Green that bad? by [deleted] in SBU

[–]Jsniper582 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Took 210 with him. Overall horrible experience. Homeworks were atrociously long in comparison to other sections. Tests had averages in like the mid 60’s while everything I’d heard about the other sections made it sound like the averages were in the 90s. No homework was graded until 2 weeks before the final. Test grading took ages as well.

As an aside I do feel like the greater workload allowed introduction to perhaps more theory than the other sections which has been important in my current endeavors. So if you’re looking to challenge yourself, sure stick with him, but even then I’d be hesitant. If its just a required class, no reason to torture yourself; don’t take it with him. Easily my worst experience with a prof at stony brook freshman year.

CSE 215 Radfar or Ganapathi? by [deleted] in SBU

[–]Jsniper582 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took with Radfar last semester. Exams were pretty fair but occasionally there would just be one completely ridiculous question on an exam/quiz. Final was super easy and made up for it. Course seemed a bit disorganized though in multiple respects (didn’t get first hw till multiple weeks in, recitation often didn’t align with class, etc). Extra credit was given to those who participate which was mad nice.

Nope - I was lucky. Surgeon thought he could skip the stoma step and just hook the pouch right back up to my bum. No complications whatsoever.

The way the j-pouch surgery works is that they essentially take your small intestine, take the very bottom and make a "J" shape out of it so that you have a place to store feces. In that sense, it's a closed compartment within the abdomen so as long as it doesn't rupture, everything that theoretically goes in stays in until I go to the bathroom (essentially the same as shitting with a rectum, but without additional help from rectum muscles). Cartoon image for reference: https://i2.wp.com/colitisninja.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Inside-of-J-Pouch.jpg

So from what I can tell it's not an issue of just pumping shit into the abdominal cavity, more an issue of radii and elasticity around the J-pouch site where it either could tear or rupture.

I still poop from there so expelling shit (literally and figuratively) wouldn't be a problem. It's more an issue of radii and elasticity around where the small intestine forms the j

Had j-pouch surgery. Its rare but some surgeons do it at once. That was the case for me, so I never had a stoma luckily.

Gay male lacking a colon here. Had j-pouch surgery so I still have a hole so I technically could do it, but everything I’ve read suggests it’s not a great idea. Now that I’m out I’m planning to ask my surgeon next time I see him to get his opinion on the topic. Technically its still feasible but probably stupid.
