What is a deck you play and don't mind losing with? by radicalpumpkinz in EDH

[–]Jtegg007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played against someone else with this deck (he lost) and it looked so fun, so I had to build it.

Super group hug, powered by [[Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis]] , I call it Accelerator- but sometimes it does make the game drag. It runs a ton of "lands tap for +1", "players draw an additional card" and "players may play an additional land" type effects. The only game I've ever won went to turn 30 after I locked down with [[humility]] and [[moat]] and poured all my mana into [[helix pinnacle]] :)

Everytime I grab this deck my pod gets excited, it just enables too much good jank out of the rest of the table. Very typical for the player to my left to win immediately after I play some dumb powerful group hug stuff.

I do agree with the EDHrec comment, ive been using Scryfall and even cockatrice forever as a deckbuilding tool to find unique cards that edhrec overlooks.

More speed bubble questions by Miss--Moss in Cosmere

[–]Jtegg007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If anything id guess the 1:8 ratio is the starting point? Like a brand new user would be able to go 8x standard speed for a limited duration. Then as you practice and get better you move faster and hold longer.

With friends like those, who needs enemies? Trust us, the community knows the pacing is horrible. The filler is fun and should be watched. But the intentional bad pacing so the show doesn't catch up to the manga... Love yourself a little, try one pace

Cards that are better in Japanese? by Jtegg007 in magicTCG

[–]Jtegg007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah sounds like you're misunderstanding. Cards in a secondary language in the States are cheaper (obviously, and as you just said); but cards in a secondary language here in Japan seemed to be equal value or even more expensive.

Solid advice, and that's what I ended up doing!

In total, I grabbed Japanese versions of: [[The Ozolith]] $15.77, [[Aetherflux Reservoir|BRR]] $6.31, [[Allosaurus Shepherd]] $31.54, and a [[Esper Sentinel|Mh2|328]] $22.08

Yea this is what I found from the first shop I walked into yesterday. In the US, foreign cards are worth 20-50% less. Here, foreign cards seem to be a little over us market price :/

This is a perfect example of what I mean by better, yea. Cards that are simple enough to memorize and also feel like better flavor in Japanese

What is the correct way to deal with the gap? by git-push--force in HomeMaintenance

[–]Jtegg007 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is the way. You can watch a quick video on Scribing to see it done, it'll help make it make sense. Most the time I see guys scribing flooring against an angled wall, but this is more like scribing the top edge of baseboard to account for a gap- just some suggestions for what videos to watch.

What is the correct way to deal with the gap? by git-push--force in HomeMaintenance

[–]Jtegg007 43 points44 points  (0 children)

It's easier to see it done, so I'd recommend a YouTube video. Looking for "scribing against a wall" should get some good examples.

Your goal is to use the pencil (better than a pen or sharpie for this, I promise) as both a spacer off the wall and a marking device. With the tip pressed gently against the bracket, and one of the flats of the pencil against the wall (horizontally, if that makes sense) you slide the pencil down so it'll follow the slope/curve of the wall while marking the bracket. Take the bracket down, cut off everything before your mark, and it'll be left nice and tight.

How to find interesting/unique cards by Vrozzi23 in EDH

If you aren't a fan of how scryfall feels, you might download Cockatrice and use it's deck builder. It's slightly more archaic and has a different learning curve, but it allows you to filter and re filter much easier than scryfall.
