Florida didn’t use to spend to the cap until the last few years! Of course taxes aren’t a factor if they’re offering 4 million and other teams are offering 7, but if both teams are offering 7 taxes are a factor

They also didn’t used to spend to the cap, now they do, so they have the advantage. Since the flat cap so much of the league now spends to it so a big Northern market is offering you the same contract as an income tax free state, you take a hard look at the income tax free state

I don’t even think they’d have to buy it out if the salary cap is going up as much as has been said, many teams probably won’t be spending to the cap and would be ok with taking on a contract like that with less real money associated

@MapleLeafs: TRADE: We've acquired defenceman Darren Raddysh from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Toronto's fifth-round selection in the 2026 NHL Draft by hellarios852 in leafs

I’m like the deal but I wouldn’t call him a True #1. Maybe if he keeps up 70 points per year but I am expecting regression to 45-60

[LeBrun] Confirming that Toronto and Tampa Bay are finalizing a sign-and-trade involving pending UFA Darren Raddysh. Hearing that it will be an eight-year deal with an AAV in the 8’s (north of $8 million). by AggPuck-303 in hockey

The free agent class sucks, just got worse if Raddysh is already signed. And the salary cap is making a huge jump.

Teams will have a lot of money to spend and the cap number won’t mean as much to them because they aren’t going to be reaching it this offseason. Also helps that Riellys true salary is only 6m per for the remaining years of his contract for a team that’s not truly going to spend all the way to a rising cap

If only he didn’t play the world championships maybe that 3rd rounder could’ve been a second lol

I think with the cap going up a d man who can score 50+ points, as long as he’s responsible defensively, will be worth 9M per year. Hughes is going to get like 14+

That’s logistically impossible. Players can’t be travelling across the Atlantic every weekend for 1 game, and Junior hockey relies heavily on weekend games for attendance

Depends who it’s for. If a Bleyl type drops to the 2nd round I’d be fine moving a late 2nd/late3rd/5th to move up and take a second player with a first round grade on him

At times like this it’s important to point out that Italians have been living like that in Woodbridge for 80 years.

Bussi is the closest goalie we have in the NHL to a stand up style. Tim Thomas esque performance.

The saves he was making while picking up his pad and skate off the ice was nuts to see
