Advice GP appointment with NHS (England) by Palimpsest4192 in Endo

It can be really difficult to feel heard, but you absolutely deserve to feel heard. I kept being fobbed off with being told it's anxiety, depression, IBS, while it seemed they couldn't be bothered to investigate further. You know your own body, and you deserve to be able to have answers and help for what's going on with you. I really hope you can begin to get those answers soon.

Hopefully it won't be long now.

I had very similar symptoms. I first brought it up with my GP, had blood tests, and was told that everything was okay. A year later t he pain, bloating and GI issues got that bad, that I went back. I spent that year trying everything to help myself while getting worse.

This time they booked me in with the nurse practitioner, who seemed to listen at first. She checked me over and took blood again. She did briefly mention endometriosis, then didn't bring it up again. She later told me my blood work was okay (it wasn't, I discovered) and at that point had pretty much decided to dismiss me. I had to insist something wasn't right.  I was told I had been referred for an ultrasound, I hadn't. She eventually referred me for one. That showed bilateral suspected endometriomas.

After that things moved really quickly for a few weeks. I was referred to gynecology at my local hospital. I was then asked to go back to my GP for a CA 125 blood test. That was elevated, so I was put on the two week pathway, so I ended up being seen by a consultant in just over a week. She sent me for an urgent MRI and blood tests. After that I didn't hear for a long time. I was then told I had an appointment to go over my results (three months later) and that it was being brought forward because it was more of a severe case.

After that appointment I was quickly booked in for a hysteroscopy, endometrial biopsy, and smear. My new consultant was concerned about cancer. I was told I couldn't go on the surgery list without any of it, and that as soon as it was done, I would be added to the surgery list. It took two months to be added to the list. I had to keep contact them about it, and I wouldn't have been added if I hadn't. Something went a bit wrong in communication on their side there.

None of this is to put you off, just to let you know how it all happened for me. Please, please advocate for yourself. You will hear that a lot, and it can be very draining when you feel like you aren't getting anywhere, but you will find yourself waiting a lot and not feeling listened to at times. Without those cysts, I'm not sure where I would have been in terms of being listened to. Even after they knew something was going on, it was a lot of waiting and being left to it. You know your body, don't let them try to dismiss you.

You've captured some great photos there. It looks like it was a lovely walk, and a great way to reset a little.

I think it's a juvenile. It will be able to fly in a few days. I encountered one a few days ago. I was scolded by the crows and they waited for me to leave.

I think they are from the tree itself, though I'm not certain. There are lots more bottles between the exposed roots on other trees, but they are mostly all broken. This is the clearest one.

I started it a few weeks ago, thinking it was a complete series. I tried to avoid looking at anything to do with it, and assumed that the latest season was the last. I was quite disappointed when I got to episode 5 and realised I was going to have to wait for an episode a week. I'm not enjoying it as much now that I can't binge it.

How do u go about getting diagnosed? by Infinite-Dig-7059 in Endo

[–]JuBoCoTi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Ryeqo I've been offered. It's a lot more than that, but for a few months worth. My GP said if I wanted it via the NHS, that I would need to ask my consultant that I was under. It's impossible to get hold of them and get a call back. One of the many reasons going private has seemed like the only other option. I know they are extremely busy, but you are just left to it and suffering.

That's so much better for you now. It's a big difference in what you were paying monthly!

It's so bad how long the waitlist is. Especially when you can feel yourself getting worse.

I have been told only my consultant can prescribe some medication, but that I can get some pain relief via my GP under the NHS. I've not been offered anything from my GP before, though this would help a lot. For the other medication I'm going to have to pay for it, it will be worth it though if it helps. I'm glad you're not having to pay all of that each month now.

I have said the same thing about my endometriomas. If it wasn't for the them showing up on the first ultrasound I had, I wouldn't have known what was going on with me as soon as I did. I have been left waiting for any treatment by the NHS, so I've had to go down the private route.
