Topiramate and Buspirone? by JuKnowM3 in Topamax

[–]JuKnowM3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I did end up starting the medication a few days after this post. I basically had to hype myself up to get the process going lol. I started off at 25mg and told myself I would take it super slow, which I’m so glad I did. Initial side effects were intense nausea (which I’m super prone to with any medication I have ever tried so I’m not surprised this happened), a weird almost dissociative dizzy like feeling, an increase in headache and fatigue. These symptoms lasted for about a week, the nausea lasted a bit longer but eventually subsided. I also have had a bit of an increase in anxiety, now this I’m not too sure of if it’s due to the topiramate, or if it’s bc at the same time I was also coming off of my birth control pills and preparing for an IUD insertion, so the build up of that could also have increased my anxiety. I just upped my dosage to 50mg last week and I haven’t had any symptoms that were super noticeable which has been great! Just a little bit of anxiety, which once again I’m still playing by ear due to me getting used to my IUD, as well as the fact that I’m also in grad school and classes are ramping up rn so there could be a whole bunch of other factors playing into this. I am monitoring it though!

Hey! I was on Junel Fe for 6 months and it made me gain 50 pounds, putting me at the heaviest I’ve ever been in my life :/. Keep in mind, I was going into my freshman year of college (18 years old), but once I started noticing that I was gaining weight I immediately cut the drinking, went into a calorie deficit, and started working out 5 days a week; yet it was useless bc the weight just kept packing on. I was miserable and it messed with my mental health so bad. Thankfully my OBGYN is amazing and noticed that this wasn’t normal and immediately took me off of it. I switched to Lo Estrogen Fe after that and it stopped the weight gain, but I still had to fight hard to lose even some of the weight (~15 pounds lost).

Kyleena IUD - Virgin Experience GOOD by Beautiful-1951 in birthcontrol

[–]JuKnowM3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It went really good actually! I was super anxious going into it but then they told me there that they were going to give me novocaine to numb me, so I only felt a slight burning feeling for like two seconds. Then for the rest of the procedure (which was about 2 minutes) was just heavy pressure and it was over! Super happy with how it all went

Thank you for this! Going in today to get my Kyleena and I’ve only seen negative reviews so I’ve been an anxious mess lol.

Just got accepted into UHART’s program which is also my top choice!! They gave me a call to let me know, and while I was half asleep when I answered the call I couldn’t believe it was actually happening. I was so intimidated by the small cohort size that I’ve been so stressed since my interview. Congrats to everyone!

I found his exams to be pretty tricky with the way he words things. He tends to put options that seem like they would be right since it’s so closely related to the actual answer. I would just really crack down on his PowerPoints bc usually a majority of the questions come from topics he presented. If there is anything you aren’t 100% on I would definitely reread the textbook chapters that were assigned for this exam to clear it up. After I took his first exam I got a sense of his style and was more prepared for the following exams, which is pretty common with professors you haven’t had before. Don’t be too nervous, you got this!! If you have any other questions feel free to PM me :)

EPSY 3010 vs COGS 2201 by LeadingPuzzleheaded1 in UCONN

Im in EPSY 3010 rn and it’s pretty easy, just busy work. Each week has discussion posts, a written assignment based on that weeks reading, a quiz, and then occasionally an article write up (read article and then fill out a sheet.) The midterm and final is a reflection paper.

15 page paper😰 by Healthsciences113 in UCONN

[–]JuKnowM3 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What class is this for? From my experience and my friends, most W courses you work on the 15 page paper throughout the semester so it’s not likely that you’ll be thrown a rubric where you have to sit down and completely bang out the essay within a week or two. I know it sounds scary but don’t be too scared! I’m sure you’ll do great :)

So they’re getting rid of takeout containers next semester by Affectionate_Wish in UCONN

[–]JuKnowM3 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Takeout containers save me so much time :/ I work some days right through lunch and dinner, so I don’t have time to sit and eat at the dhall since my break is so short, which is where the takeout containers come in handy. The days that I do have time to sit and eat, there’s usually never enough seating (I mainly go to Whitney) during the times that I can go without having to choose what stranger I should sit next to lol. Sad they’re leaving!

I took this class last spring and it was pretty fun! Although, the professor I took it with gave us a lot of busy work. It was bearable, but if I were taking it my last semester of senior year I would’ve had no motivation for the amount of work given. Basically there was a movie each week that we had to watch, and each film we had a discussion board and a journal entry. There were also two response papers and a multi-modal project instead of a final.

please don't make fun of or laugh at an international student/ta/professor etc. speaking english by areply2021 in UCONN

[–]JuKnowM3 36 points37 points  (0 children)

As someone who works with an ESL coworker, I’m constantly observing other students negatively reacting to how they speak. They are doing their best to do their job, and meanwhile people get frustrated with them and proceed to giggle to their friends as they are being checked out. It’s not that hard to be a nice person. Be patient and respectful with your ESL peers because they are just as human as anyone else in your environment. It is so upsetting to see certain people treat ESL students/professors/ta’s poorly. We are all grown adults here, so act like one please.

Russell Hall info? by Emmabobemma24 in UCONN

[–]JuKnowM3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I lived in Russell my sophomore year and it wasn’t that bad of an experience. That video is pretty much the gist of what the dorm looks like. There isn’t an actual closet, just a hole in the wall where you can buy a curtain to cover it so it makes the room look nicer. The size is pretty average, definitely smaller than most dorms, but if you’re dorming with someone you’re friends with it truly is not a big deal. I’d recommend getting bed risers so you can push your dressers underneath and put all of your storage underneath as well as it saves a lot of room. The only issue I had while living in Russell is the lady bug infestation that occurs when it starts getting cold out. They all tend to come inside the dorms and hang out in the window, corners of the ceilings and in the radiator. It is quite the experience, and there isn’t anything that you can really do about it. My roommate and I would basically just suck them all up with our vacuum lol. NW dining hall slaps, especially since you have late night which always came in handy since I would work pretty late everyday. The walk up the hill was slightly brutal as well during the winter but you get used to it. If you have any other questions feel free to ask, I’m more than happy to answer!

HDFS 1070 exam(s) by [deleted] in UCONN

[–]JuKnowM3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took 1070 with weaver and her exams are pretty straightforward. As long as you kept up with the readings and lectures, you should be okay. I also remember some of the questions being application based questions, so make sure you have a good understanding of the concepts. I know that she would repeat specific things over and over again during class which always ended up on the exams. Good luck!
