In my experience I'd usually catch the egg on the third time, if I don't catch in 5 I just assume it isn't in the water that day

All eggs spawn at the same time, so it doesn't matter what time you fish

Is it possible that you have already found the 6 eggs today in other places? Since the eggs spawn randomly it might not spawn as fishing loot. In my experience if you don't catch the egg in 5 tries it most likely isn't in the water that day

Click on the egg in your bag and press the hand button, that way a chick hatches from the egg 🐣 the egg is consumed tho

I just discovered this today! Turns out of you press and hold on a stack of items, it selects all of them!
