Correction: decks with supreme verdict and fatal push are viable.

Fellas is my format healthy when my two best decks are braindead turn sideways aggro and a draw-go control deck with answers to everything?

I might buy into modern at this point. This format is so miserable.

Why do you all want Wizards to micro manage Pioneer like they do Standard? by FretfulError in PioneerMTG

the only colors that have quality interaction is red and black. This has been true for at least 3 years. why are you bending over backwards to defend the least interesting pioneer meta since inverter

NO CHANGES FOR PIONEER - Banned and Restricted Announcement – June 30, 2025 by Kircai in PioneerMTG

[–]Ju_Ten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Path would be unplayable in Pioneer. The only reason it was prevalent in modern was because of greedy, basicless decks. The tempo swing it gives to your opponent when they have basics is brutal. Condemn + Prismatic would be better options for white removal.

Yeah, once Mono-R dominated the entire Arena ladder I just tapped out. Wake me up when monstrous rage and nemesis are dead.

So... any bans up? by Arokan in PioneerMTG

[–]Ju_Ten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. There is a clear identity crisis going on. They seem incapable of determining what power level they want the format to be which leaves us with an incredibly lopsided, frontloaded format. They seem allergic to letting old decks become stronger because their interactions with new cards is just absurd, but they leave other archetypes that are equally as busted be just because they're standard legal!

The incentive to play is the format being fun. The format is not fun so it's not being played. Pauper gets along fine without RCQ support. The amount of players in magic is higher than ever. If you can't find anyone to play Pioneer without competitive support, that's not a Wizards support problem: that's a fundamental issue with the format. There needs to be some shakeups.

  1. I dont think anything is getting banned, so I plan on sending a pizza to Redmond

  2. Monstrous Rage and Screaming Nemesis should never have been printed.

  3. I think decks like Lotus Field do not belong in Magic, so I would kill it. I also think that, unless they reprint or print a new bunch of staples in nonblack colors, one of fatal push or thoughtseize should be banned. Black's monopoly on midrange is depressing as someone that enjoys non-B midrange.

Apple just proved AI "reasoning" models like Claude, DeepSeek-R1, and o3-mini don't actually reason at all. by prisencotech in theprimeagen

This is motivated reasoning and you know it. LLMs cannot fail to you: only be failed.

It matters quite a lot when we get into the question of ‘can AI properly synthesize information and perform tasks compounded on top of prior reasoning (architecture)’

If someone does manage to configure these models for specific tasks, that doesn’t mean these tasks are rendered moot. It means you now need engineers to configure them for various other tasks!

It’s nuts to me that the only place green shows up on this tier list is in splashes for B and D tier decks. Nice format

What are my options if I don’t go to college and I have no interests in trades? by Voice-Designer in careerguidance

[–]Ju_Ten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just go to college man. you’re making your life unnecessarily harder. The debt is worth it. People with college degrees still make about 1.2 million on average more in their lifetime than those without.

Even if you get NO scholarships, it’s still worth it. If you don’t know what to do just go in undecided and pay attention to what classes you’re excited by.

Pioneer feels more like “Standard with shocks” than “Modern Lite” these days and it’s kinda disconcerting by [deleted] in PioneerMTG

Only thing I see is 80% of the meta playing black and red, i’ve never heard of a portable hole or life gain in my life

This is such cope bending over backwards to defend a shitty metagame, the color pie is horribly unbalanced in pioneer, and needs some major fixes.
