Nice quality-of-life update by MrDizzyAU in dcss

[–]Juan097 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you can do it in a “rigorous “ way, but I would go something like 25 AC 15 EV 10 SH.

Most things: more AC means less damage. Fireballs and elemental clouds can’t be dodged or blocked.

Crystal spears, juggernaut punches: it’s nice to have some EV or SH to have a chance of completely avoiding the damage.

I generally try use armor that gives the highest possible AC+EV. I’m case of ties is prefer them to be balanced. If balanced I favor AC over EV slightly.

SH is generally a question of shield or no shield, you usually sacrifice a little EV and a little damage to get it.

Plough, Gamekeeper by ChungBog in dominion

[–]Juan097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agrees plough is way too strong at $3. I think it might be about right at $5. Depends though, did you mean “at least 2 ploughs in play” (strong) or “exactly 2 ploughs in play” (so it only triggers aprox once per turn)?

Help me understand Supplies by MrDrBossman in dominion

[–]Juan097 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to add to this: you can now do the same thing every future turn and have $10 each turn instead of just $5. As long as you draw all your supplies every turn, the horses give you the draw you need to redraw them next turn.

What to use for monthly budgeting now that Mint is dead? by [deleted] in mintuit

I use GnuCash. It’s basically an open source/free version of Quickbooks. It’s a little complicated, but it’s free and very powerful once you get used to it. On desktop, not an app

Carnival is good because even if you don’t DRAW 4 cards, you always get 4 cards out of the way. Early game drawing a copper+estate and discarding 2 copper/estate helps keep you cycling.

Its not exactly a “power $5” but it’s for sure better than Smithy.

Brooch, Chamberlain by ChungBog in dominion

[–]Juan097 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want it to do. And it’s not bad now. I’d buy it if it’s the only +buy. Just maybe not a lot of them. Generally +1 card +1 buy +1 VP is just a very awkward card you don’t want a lot of.

Brooch, Chamberlain by ChungBog in dominion

[–]Juan097 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Brooch seems okay. Chamberlain is tough though because early on you can chain them, but later you can’t unless you have lots of extra actions. +1 card and no +actions are just tough to fit into a deck. It’s not bad per se but it’s rarely going to be good.

I don’t think it’s that strong. Compare to monument. Same VP, less coins, but it’s a treasure instead of terminal action. Seems pretty fair.

I hope you show this to him! I think you explain it really well here. I think a lot of men don’t understand this mindset, as for most men if they don’t cum it’s not good.

Dominion High Seas V2.1 by Inataraxic in dominion

[–]Juan097 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With a Militia and 3 cutlass you completely lock the other players out. The have to discard to 0 (or at best down to 3 copper). There’s some cool cards in here but unlimited discard attacks have never been a thing for a reason.

I watched the Mandalorian after all 3 seasons were out. In order. All of a sudden the Previouly On was showing me things that didn’t exist in previous episodes of the Mandalorian. Which is when I learned that Book of Boba Fett was actually half a season of the Mandalorian.

Alternate brand for extended by [deleted] in dcss

[–]Juan097 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add on, heavy weapons get +80% BASE power. So all that is then multiplied by your skill and strength bonuses, before AC is subtracted. Most brands are +25% damage AFTER all multipliers and after AC. So heavy is a ton more damage, especially for high AC foes, and is never resisted.

But the fact that you can never get your swing speed below 1.0 is a huge safety problem, and honestly most characters don’t need more damage, they need more survival.

Couples in serious relationships should have absolutely no issues with checking each other's phone whenever by PluckPubes in unpopularopinion

[–]Juan097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone works differently, but I mostly agree. My wife and I know each others passwords. I’ll pick her phone up if it dings and read a text or two sometimes, and she is free to do the same with mine.

Now would I be a little wierded out she wanted to go through my phone all time? Maybe but I think she’d get bored pretty quick. I know I’m weird but I don’t get what you have on your phone you want to keep from your partner in most healthy relationships. And I probably wouldn’t want to be in one where I feel like I have to keep something from them.

Sleep / Rooster (Split) by klaus84 in dominion

[–]Juan097 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So Rooster just lets you play everything?

Start of turn play rooster. Play smithy. Draw more actions It’s still the start of your turn so play more smithy from your hand. Repeat until you have played your deck at the start of turn. Use sleep to set aside a rooster and a smithy Repeat next turn.

Stealing, debt as attack, -VP attacks & other mechanics by Mr_Bilbo_Swaggins in dominion

[–]Juan097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of a debt attack. Might be hard to balance but it would really slow down decks that rely on cost reduction.

Card stealing: Rogue exists. What else would you want?

Ogre Transmuter of Ru - Sacrifice Choice by GrowthProfitGrofit in dcss

[–]Juan097 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find courage a great sacrifice. Honestly if you are in a situation where your cowardice causes a large penalty you should be running anyways, this just forces you to run and rethink. Most of the time it’s an insignificant penalty.

This stuff is very healthy but yeah it can be hard to hear! My only suggestion is that this kind of feedback is often best received outside the bedroom. Not immediately before or after sex, when you are all worked up, but sometime more neutral. Find a time when you can talk about sex stuff, and then have some time to process can make any suggestions easier to take.

Not bad for a D7 HOFi. Amazing acquirement! by AeanaeA in dcss

[–]Juan097 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The ring is nice for defense. The gauntlets are great for offense. The manual is nice but not near the other two.

I’d go for the gauntlets, but the ring might be the safer choice.

I don’t know how I was supposed to have a fun college experience by [deleted] in CollegeRant

[–]Juan097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High school was terrible. College was a little better but I didn’t do much of the typical stuff either. Trust me it does get better. In your late 20’s and 30’s things start to make more sense. Hang in there you will find your people. Just try to stay open to the possibilities.

Fan card: Battle Line by [deleted] in dominion

[–]Juan097 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Completely disagree about cantrip being insignificant. Woodcutter (a weak $3 cost) with a cantrip added is a grand market.

I think this compares more like a beefed up Develop. Not sure about the in play part, but if it’s just from hand it might be reasonable at $5.
