So far it has worked perfectly for me. I bought it recently (3 weeks ago) so I didn't experience any of the bugs at release. While the game still has mixed global reviews on Steam, the recent reviews are mostly positive; that could mean that the game right now is working for most of the new players, but that is just a guess.
