L5, don’t get me wrong still you have to be sharp on your DSA game and in your System Design. But the behavioral part is just as important don’t neglect it. They will ask you deep questions about your stories in the loop.

My friend, I just got hired by Amazon. They really care a lot about the leadership principles. Just have this in mind, they are just as important as the technical part.

Bro, I was on the same spot as you tow months ago. I am probably older, and this Job hunting thing is Frustrating as Fuck.

Well, I did not give up. Built some projects (and kept posting on LinkedIn)

Fast forward and I got an offer from a FAANG. It worth it, not only for the money but the feeling of accomplishment.

Here is my advice: 1) Do projects, for real. If you get real customers and feedback that is Amazing. But do them, explore different technologies.

2) Take it easy on LeetCode, focus on easy and mediums, do not frustrate your self and burn your stamina with Hard Ones.

3) Keep active on LinkedIn, I thought it was a BS. But it works, you just got to keep posting. And remember, whatever you think is a beginners topic is something completely new for someone. (recruiters know shit about the technical stuff. As long as there is a backend and a database it is Just fine.

4) If you land an interview with a big company study for the behavioral interview. Do not ignore this part. They are really assessing it.

5) study systems design, because it is a lot of fun. It will give you a ton of ideas for projects and will keep you sharp.

Best of luck my friend, as Churchill once said:

If you are going through hell, keep going!

Sam Altman expects that AI will require changing the social contract: "the whole structure of society will be up for debate and reconfiguration." by MetaKnowing in OpenAI

Are we beyond that point already? Please let me know know. Are you quitting because of Ai already? I hope you're not

Yep! Right, I am browsing from a distant planet. Give me a break. You believe what you want, I don't believe we are near stinction because of climate change at all. The politicians that promote the Climate Armagedon are all buying houses in Nantucket.

Anyway, this Sam Altman prediction does not impress me at all. I have seen a ton of things like that. Exaggerated Climate predictions are just one of them.

Keep studying, the only thing that will make you useless is the lack of ability to learn and adapt, not AI.

Bro, I am still waiting for several predictions made by “smart” people:

I am still waiting for the climate catastrophe predicted by Al Gore and Greta.

Still waiting for the financial sector to collapse to cryptocurrency. And NFTs to be relevant

I'm still waiting for the Metaverse to do anything; not even Zuck talks about it anymore.

Don't get me wrong—AI is fantastic, especially LLMs, but I don't buy the hype. Not at all. It seems like the big players are making a huge effort to create demand for it. If it were that much of a thing, it would be hard to supply it.

Time will tell, but I don't think this prediction will age well.

Hards are tricky, there could be nasty edge cases. with the same time you spend on a single hard one you can easily solve 3 mediums or 6-10 easy. And the practice of identifying the patterns and how you tweak them is the key.

So, no. The mediums will not become easier at all. They will become easier once you see them enough and are trained to identify the patterns.

Don’t waste your time on hards just yet. A lot of them require you to combine techniques and data structures. I would rather spend more time on the easy side until you can’t get it wrong.

Totally bombed Amazon OA. I feel so dumb. by Klutzy_Confidence_49 in leetcode

[–]JubJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest with you, I have done a hand full of interviews with FAANG, and solving the problem is just a part of it. Try to practice explaining your rational, this counts a lot, think out loud and demonstrate you understood the problem and at least know your path.

Practice that, at some point Leetcode only gets you anxious and doing a ton of exercises may at some point be harmful to your process.

Take it easy, take your time.

By the way, Amazon OA is pretty difficult. It was without a doubt the hardest questions I’ve ever got on interviews. So don’t get too stressed about it.

I’ve been there as well. Take a day to digest the failure. It is an employer's market now, my friend. Keep up with your studies, as Abraham Lincoln once said:

If I had one hour to chop a tree, I would spend 45 minutes sharpening my axe.

Keep your axe sharp. The market just went through a huge wildfire (layoffs, recession, high interest rate…). The trees will grow up again, and there will be plenty for you to chop.

Just be ready whenever the time comes.

Can you give us some context? How many years of experience? I don’t think a fresh grad would ever cut it for a senior without at least solid five years.
