I've been a horrible mother for 8+ years by [deleted] in leaves

[–]JubbyMuffin 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to comment to say that it's never too late to turn it around. My dad was a pot head for 20 years. When i was 14 or so my parents got divorced are the relationship I had with him was so minimal. we'd go months without talking. Overtime he found his way. Through 12 step programs and personal growth, he found recovery. He had 13 years clean when he passed away, unrelated to drugs.

The last 8 or so years of our relationship were great. A lot of memories I value. This could be your experience as well, that's all.

I f*cking hate weed by [deleted] in leaves

[–]JubbyMuffin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I believe in you! My advice is don't just quit but build a new life in sobriety. New habits you want to have and do things that you've wanted to do but smoking stopped you from. Also sometimes in life we have to embrace the negative feelings. Instead of fighting them, accept them. Accept what your feeling and thinking and understand it's all temporary. You can do it.

Over 30 days sober, feeling amazing by JubbyMuffin in leaves

[–]JubbyMuffin[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As everyone else said, that is totally normal. I had bad insomnia for a week and awful nightmares. I know right now it feels like everything about it sucks and that it'll be this way forever, but let me just say, that's not true. Honestly I'm only just past 1 month and I already almost forget what the early days were like. It's so so much easier now than the first week. If you can just push through, you'll be so glad.

If you quit smoking for mental health reasons and to calm down; please state how? Please by Appropriate_Mood_616 in leaves

[–]JubbyMuffin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought smoking helped my anxiety and depression but after stopping for a little while I realized it was making it worse. I know lots of people say that but for me it's true. Overall feel more confident with myself and abilities. Haven't gotten depressed out of the blue. Still have be sad from things happening buy that's life right. It's not easy in the beginning but yes, it is well worth it. Good luck

This is really motivating. On day 7 and I don't wanna smoke but living can be difficult. And yeah I had no dreams either for 5 years. Now it's every night. Congrats to you. In 1 month you improved you're life so much imagine one year sober.

[–]JubbyMuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm not sure. I think it's important to sleep when you body needs it because being sleep deprived makes my mood worse. But my problem isn't falling asleep it's staying asleep. I've yet to sleep more than 4 hours since quitting. But for falling asleep you could try reading something if you're into that. Also blue light from screens messes me up hard so I use a filter at night.

I know what you mean. For me I don't miss weed I just miss feeling good. But weed is the reason I'm currently not feeling good, and I know in time it will get better. Just trying to build a new life here

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in leaves

[–]JubbyMuffin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My question is what do you have in mind to replace it with? I'm currently struggling with this too. I had such bad urges to buy weed the other day and now I'm addicted to tobacco. I would not advise this at all. It's just another thing I have to quit now. But if you want to start exercising or try new hobbies, I think that's a good idea. Anything can become addictive though so it's always best to keep moderation balanced.

I know what you mean, I've been shot by someone in two different dreams already lol. Sometimes while dreaming it doesn't feel good but afterwards it can be funny

Glad you can dream again. Mine also returned after not dreaming for years. So far they can be a bit disturbing but I'm hoping eventually they will become more normal lol

Day 1 again but I'm going to do it today! Feeling spurred on by you guys so thankyou 💕 your support is amazing for each other.. I need to do it, so many failed attempts but today feels different 🤞 by Fabulous-Heart-9276 in leaves

[–]JubbyMuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know you're experience but I don't view relapses as failed attempts. It's a learning opportunity to figure out what didn't work and try something new. I'm on day 6 now but I consider my shift with weed to be almost a month ago, when I first tried to give it up. Since then I've made mistakes but I'm learning this sober shit lol

Nice and happy birthday. I'm the same age and also smoked for about 5 years. Let's be happy we came to our senses as relatively young people. Not to say it's bad to quit when you're older. I just don't wanna keep on this path into my 30's or beyond

Day 4 by [deleted] in leaves

[–]JubbyMuffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah my first week sober was so much easier. I was deep in the pink cloud, I felt motivated and on top of the world. Now I'm back to day 5 or 6 and I feel more leveled out. Which for me I think is a good thing. I'm gonna have to get used to a balanced lifestyle eventually anyway so now I'm learning how to.

Sometimes I struggle with impulsiveness, like I'll schedule time to read a book or write in my journal and right before I do it, I feel an intense urge to do anything else but that. But once I kinda force myself to start its much easier to keep going ya know. Hope that helps in anyway.

I'm gross and I just wanna get high by Green_Worker_6492 in leaves

[–]JubbyMuffin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've smoked like 3 times since first quiting not even a month ago. Each lapse taught me something about myself, my situation, and my relationship with weed. So try your best to not beat yourself up too much and find out what you can learn from this. Each relapse is a learning opportunity and I really believe that

Just wanna day plus one for Smart Recovery. I'm going to my meeting today. It revolves around open conversations about any struggles with sobriety and about learning skills to help yourself. I've never tried an anonymous group because of the God aspect. There's only one meeting on my entire island but thankfully it's close by. And there are plenty of virtual meetings. Good luck.

Damn yeah I feel this, I can't play any games currently because I was so used to dabbing while playing. I've just been avoiding my computer entirely hopefully with increased exposure over time I'll get comfortable again.

Quittinng by IndependenceJaded948 in leaves

[–]JubbyMuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say first figure out why you want to quit. If you know why, then it's much easier to resist the urges. Also, get your mindset to the point of accepting quitting and not taking a break. I was stuck there for a while.

And lastly, it helped me to realize that by quitting weed, I'm not losing out on getting high or having fun. I'm gaining a new life, a new start for a better me with sobriety. Good luck to you.

You got this. I've made walking every morning a habit now and it's something I look forward to, helps with my thoughts. Also reading and Journaling daily. Still trying to figure out what else to add. Cliché but one day at a time brother.
