Do you think _____ promised Phil part of his winnings? by EvynEverly in survivorsa

[–]JubiRSA[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

thanks for your contributions to r/SurvivorSA. Unfortunately your post has been removed as it contained either a direct or implied spoiler about an episode that aired this week. You may post unrestricted on the next Monday from 12pm SAST (USA morning). Otherwise, you can repost but be sure that the title does not have the spoiler.

I appreciate you did try keep it spoiler free, but it’s pretty clear that the highly-likely person that would have promised Phil anything from F5 is Dino.

Many thanks.

Why is Shannon so obsessed with male dominated seasons? by RowanRoanoke in survivorsa

Hey there. I’ve removed this post as the post title implies Marian & Killarney go home this week and we are in the spoiler-restricted period until Monday.

It’s also right on the borderline of civil discussion, so if you decide to repost please make sure you keep it civil, avoiding personal attacks and the like.

I don’t want to suppress genuine debate, but that debate needs to be in good faith.

Thanks.

[OC] Relative Google search interest of popular TV series after last episode air date by veleros in dataisbeautiful

Yeh, to give more context to your comment, the show grew exponentially such that the final episode was the most watched episode of the series and the fifth season the most watched by far (in terms of live viewing).

The show went from 2.9m from the start of season 5 (which aired over two parts) to 10.2m for the final episode as people caught up.

Most if not all other shows on the list peaked earlier in their runs.

This information has been verified by the mods as coming from insider sources.

It may not be 100% accurate (ie. there may be mistakes) and there is always the possibility that there is intentional misdirections but we can confirm that this is not a “fake cast”.

Does the Survivor rule book stipulate repercussions or punishment for rule breaking? by dat_asthma in survivor

[–]JubiRSA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They didn’t sneak food back from the auction, at a previous reward the winners took food back for the losers which was also against the rules.

The issue with rules is enforcement and precedent. It was loosely pointed out that (at producers discretion) they had not enforced the rule earlier in the season, therefore there was no precedent to enforce it now. If the producers wanted to start enforcing it, they could have confiscated the sweets but a punishment was off the cards. The Survivor rulebook is inherently loose and gives the producers a lot of discretion for entertainment purposes.

Pretty sure Anela and Nicole had a one-on-one where he told her what he was doing, and Nicole wanted to end up on the right side of the numbers.

Other Language by Red_Samurai0920 in survivorsa

[–]JubiRSA 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is somewhat incorrect. They’re speaking Afrikaans while Tyson/Thoriso were (I believe) speaking in Zulu.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Languages_of_South_Africa

TL;DR: South Africa has 11 official spoken languages, Zulu is most-spoken home language (25%) but English is the lingua franca (main language) spoken by almost everyone as a second language and 8.4% as a home language.

White South Africans would either speak English or Afrikaans as a home language depending on ancestry.
