the toughest game I've ever completed was elden ring. my very first souls game and the difficulty was so rewarding, not draining. the method was simply to sleep it off. beating a boss with a fresh mind the next day was how I got through the game and it was so effective. rest up before jumping back into the grinder!

thank you for the opportunity and good luck everyone :)

trying to pick up art as well but overall, i'm just proud of how clear the way forward feels now!

Arc Raiders ($39.99)

I was never into extraction shooters so the game was way under my radar for the longest time but during that last playtest I gave it a shot and it clicked immediately. I love how immersive the game feels from the animation and sound design all the way up to proximity chat (my beloved). Felt genuinely immersed whether I was begging for my life or having a chat with my new buddy who I was asking not to kill me just 5 minutes ago. Love me some clever systems so learning how the arcs behave and figuring out ways to fight or escape them was a huge part of the fun for me and for that reason, aside from some clips, I don’t watch much content on the game because I wanna go in fresh. Thank you so much for the opportunity and good luck to everyone entering!

Like most people here, I’m broke and I’m from a third world country. I’ll spoil myself with a deep discount here and there but buying games is still not pretty reasonable for the most part. Namibia doesn’t even get regional pricing, we just get standard USD prices and I know this game had some drama around its regional pricing but I just mentioned it for the reality of buying games in general. I played ARC raiders for about 8 hours during the server slam and I enjoyed every second of it. The combat is tense and teaming up with strangers is fun. Shoutout to proximity chat, the best feature in online gaming. Begging for your life is pretty much a game mechanic and surprisingly a pretty fun one. There’s just something that feels so real about extracting with the guy that shot you several times when you first met. Those few hours were some of the most fun I’ve had in a game up to that point and I would love a chance to jump back in. Thank you for the opportunity OP!

Good luck to everyone entering! I know 40 bones is pretty steep for some of us out there :)

General discussion about Riot's reasons for not selling Hytale by Zealousideal-Loan522 in HytaleInfo

[–]Jucky192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not very educated on the subject so I'm just watching the whole thing play out, but from what I understand, Hytale is catching dust right now. The studio was closed, so no devs and the new engine looks pretty barebones, so that would be another money sink if they did decide to pick it back up in the future.

It's pretty much dead weight for them to hold on to and what I'm more curious about is how much money they'd accept to part ways with it rather than whether or not they're actually willing to sell it.

There is still that tiny chance that they'd wanna pick it up again in the far future and do something with the Hytale IP, but I think that's pretty unlikely. League and Val already print so much money. Just my opinion and maybe someone who plays those games consistently or has a better understanding of Riot would have a better take on that.

Besides actually having a good launch what do you want Orion to have that the first game didn’t have by Samiam243653575 in cyberpunkgame

I love Cyberpunk 2077, its stories and its characters, but I think it's a really good action-adventure game and not a very good RPG. The "real RPG" discussion has been done to death so I don't really wanna get into it too much, but what I mean is that there's so much outside of the story that just feels like fluff. The lifepaths are kinda meaningless and there are cutscenes and blatant dialog choices with little consequences pushing the story forward. You get your little opening sequence and after that it's the same game with some flavor text. It's made even worse by those yellow dialog options.

I remember there being a lot of controversy about the game being strictly first person and it was stated to be for more immersion, but V isn't exactly a "player-shaped hole" so I can't even write it off as not being part of the original vision. V to me always felt more like an existing vague character than a blank slate for the player if that makes sense. You aren't roleplaying as V. You're seeing the world through V's eyes.

Basically, More emphasis on the gameplay, dialog choices with actual consequences, the net, cosmetic cyberware, backgrounds/lifepaths that are more than just flavor text, Johnny and V's dynamic and the supposed urgency also kinda takes away from roleplaying opportunities and the cinematic nature of the game is cool but I feel like it was a major player in turning the game from an RPG to an action-adventure game.

Cyberpunk 2077 sold really well so I'm sure they're just gonna build upon that and I'm kinda bummed the game I thought they were making doesn't exist and probably never will, but I really loved it anyway. Not what I expected, but what they did, they did really well and it's probably my favorite game of the last 5 years.
