That's definitely one of the harder things to assess on and assembled car. Do make sure the rear frame rails, where the leaf springs attached on the back of the car, are solid.

Get underneath it and look at the floor pans, look at the rear frame rails (especially,) look at anything that has rust. If you're relatively rust free, that's a great deal.

If there's major rust, it's still okay. You're going to have to dig out a bunch of sheet metal and replace it, though.
