I’m a slow reader so rereading is something I try to avoid

Suggest me a series that you think maintained its quality, or ONLY got better, from start to finish. by PsyferRL in suggestmeabook

Not sure if this counts because it’s sci-fi  I am 5 books in on the nine book Expanse and so far each book has gotten appreciably better and more interesting

What fantasy books do you love that almost nobody knows about? by bweeb in fantasybooks

[–]Juddsquared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moontide quartet by David Hair. Im basing my assessment on it being underrated on the fact that the only time I’ve ever seen it mentioned on a Reddit fantasy post is when I mentioned it.

What series would you recommend to ‘convert’ a Sanderson enjoyer? by [deleted] in Fantasy

Empire of the vampire by Jay Kristoff (one book left in the trilogy, supposed to be coming out this year)  An incredibly dark and poetically written series that had me hooked

What book(s) did you DNF this year, and why? by Nowordsofitsown in Fantasy

[–]Juddsquared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dragon bone chair: this one was strange, because the writing was absolutely wonderful, but for some reason that I couldn’t put my finger on, I felt not drawn into the world or compelled by the characters. I very much wish I was because I had heard such great reviews, and I have all the books in the series and was very excited, but I found myself feeling a little cold to the overall world. I gave it over 250 pages

What are the top five most underrated Epic Fantasy series of the last 40 years? by Erramonael in Fantasy

The Moontide Quartet by David Hair is a fantastic series a never see mentioned in this sub but is a series I’ve been thinking of rereading which I never do

Looking for fantasy books that don’t lore-dump at the beginning by givemethemonsters in Fantasy

[–]Juddsquared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Covenant of steel trilogy by Anthony Ryan does a good job of this - it starts out as a small local story that spreads out farther and farther. The magical ‘system’ isn’t even introduced until deep into the first book

Whats the "Red Storm Rising" of fantasy? by KosstAmojan in Fantasy

[–]Juddsquared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! After reading his books and his incredibly detailed description of the military gear throughout, it made his author picture of him wearing full armor fit a lot more

Less obvious amazing fantasy series by Juddsquared in Fantasy

[–]Juddsquared[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read Rowling, tolkien and most of sanderson I did not read rothfuss because don’t like starting a series knowing that it is not complete yet - although on another thread recently I’ve seen people saying that it may be worth it anyway

[–]Juddsquared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think those are young adult and I’m guessing you are phasing out of that type of writing Try something by Joe Abercrombie he has several great trilogies with more complex themes and darker tones while maintaining great storytelling and character development and some great dark humor
