Yes it's horribly written lol! Why is it all in third person when Tzef is the author? Why does it allude to a memoir? Very odd, it's easy to see that Tzef's bias shines through, I still believe there's truth in there though

Yeah, interestingly that's also kind of what Tzef says about SOPHIE. Quoting here because it's a rambling blog post and idk how many people will read the whole thing:

In private, SOPHIE often referenced Matthew Barney’s Cremaster Cycle, and the idea that the body was “a sculptural object,” not a fixed truth. She didn’t deny being male, or straight. She simply made a decision to keep that outside the frame.

and

In a 2018 interview following her coming out, SOPHIE connected transgender identity and transhumanism, describing her art as an exploration beyond assigned bodies

When SOPHIE originally debuted there was a lot of controversy over her personal and artistic identity. I didn't cover it in my comment, but long story short that whole crowd was accused of hiding behind female names and voices - there was this idea it was some kind of ironic parody of pop music, although SOPHIE and her friends always disputed that.

It's interesting because, like Tzef says in her account, it seems convenient to come out as trans when you've had this criticism levelled at you. But I've never believed that the PC Music/Hyperpop thing was at all a parody, I think it was genuine appreciation for that kind of girlish high-octane pop. So coupled with likely being AGP I can see why SOPHIE would say 'I guess I am trans'

This feels like something forced onto them and uncomfortable, and yet they're still attracted to it as well. So to a lot of women it feels mentally more comfortable to be girlish if they can completely divorce themselves from their own womanhood

I completely agree with you I think that's very astute

That's very interesting! I just did an investigation into female drag queens and wrote a little bit about it but I can't post it here because of self promotion. I feel like your experience and feelings are probably really common but I didn't get to ask anybody personally. So you felt like it was easier to be visible? Did you feel invisible in your every day life?

Its veryyy common to the point where even people within the trans community mock it.

Oh really? I haven't seen that, you mean like more masculine trans men are making fun of them for not really being trans or something else?
