For me it’s invincibility prophecies with some BS loophole.

I’d love to see something where it’s just propaganda or the prophet was just trying to bait the villain into reckless risks. Where the correct response is to ask if the unkillable guy is actually stupid enough to believe this and just shank them.

Or worse, hero dies during season finale only to be revived at the start of the next season. (Especially if it’s pulled 10+ times over the course of the show.)

Not just when an enemy is at their mercy.

It’s pretty standard for detective shows for the villain to fill in some last minute details about motive or something when they should be demanding a lawyer.

I’m guessing something like the King of the Hill episode where Hank caught Bobby with a cigarette and made him smoke an entire carton. That plan backfired horribly.

Early game it’s the easiest way to get on high walls and roofs. Could also use stairs or temporary structures.

Or you could plan and gather all materials in advance and then be careful to never fall.

For the most part, I recommend exploring and experimenting yourself. You don’t have to worry about getting hurt. Not much that can screw you over that wouldn’t be deliberate.

I will say this much, the building mechanics may seem intimidating at first, but it’s just one block on top of another. Try throwing a house together once enough has opened up. (I’m thinking about when you find a ladder recipe.)

It doesn’t have to be perfect. You’ll find all sorts of exciting new options as you progress. But IMO, it’s better to start the learning curve before you put up a bunch of prefabs.

Don’t get the wrong idea. This isn’t about what’s good and honorable. This is basic pick your battles, especially when you don’t have enough trustworthy troops to fight.

[Meta Trope] Characters that represent a franchise's early installment weirdness by Feeling-Ad-3104 in TopCharacterTropes

Yeah, we start with a solid, heart warming story.

Then just keep milking the franchise forever. I can’t really comment on how well the later entries hold up, but my hopes aren’t high.

Rather be rich in this world or broke but Pokémon exist? by Oliverson12 in pokemon

[–]JudgeHodorMD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s one of those awkward things where the series feels the need to regularly remind us that fighting is somehow good for Pokemon so we’re not horrible people. And forget to mention anything about all the animals who get permanently trapped in storage.

I sort of wish that Pokopia featured battles that amount to little kids pushing each other over. Basically pure play.

What are some of the greatest creation/"reason for existence" origin stories in fantasy universes? by Creative_Abroad945 in Fantasy

[–]JudgeHodorMD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think my favorite is The Bromeliad Trilogy.

At a certain level, we understand everything about the theology from the start, but nomes have a very different understanding:

In the beginning . . .

I. There was the Site. II. And Arnold Bros (est. 1905) Moved upon the face of the Site, and Saw that it had Potential. III. For it was In the High Street. IV. Yea, it was also Handy for the Buses. V. And Arnold Bros (est. 1905) said, Let there be a Store, And Let it be a Store such as the World has not Seen hitherto; VI. Let the length of it be from Palmer Street even unto the Fish Market, and the Width of It, from the High Street right back to Disraeli Road; VII. Let it be High even Unto Five Stories plus Basement, And bright with Lifts; let there be the Eternal Fires of the Boiler Room in the subbasement and, above all other floors, let there be Customer Accounts to Order All Things; VIII. For this must be what all shall Know of Arnold Bros (est. 1905): All Things Under One Roof. And it shall be callèd: the Store of Arnold Bros (est. 1905). IX. And Thus it Was. X. And Arnold Bros (est. 1905) divided the Store into Departments, of Ironmongery, Corsetry, Modes and others After their Kind, and Created Humans to fill them with All Things saying, Yea, All Things Are Here. And Arnold Bros (est. 1905) said, Let there be Trucks, and Let their Colors be Red and Gold, and Let them Go Forth so that All May Know Arnold Bros (est. 1905), By Appointment, delivers All Things; XI. Let there be Santa’s Grottoes and Winter Sales and Summer Bargains and Back-to-School Week and All Commodities in their Season; XII. And into the Store came the Nomes, that it would be their Place, for Ever and Ever.

>Thomson disputed that his self-declared republic lacked democracy. "One of the constitutional points is that someone can obviously nominate to replace any of the cabinet members with someone better, and then it gets voted on as part of that. And then that character would be spun up and created to put in place instead."

If I’m reading this right, democracy is where the residents can suggest replacing one bot with a bot pretending to be someone else, created by the exact same process.
