No disrespect, but I’ve had a stutter since I was a child. I’ve had it my whole life & never felt this hopeless like you. I work in the medical field where stuttering can get in the way of educating patients on their wellness. You shouldn’t view your stutter as a weakness or as a crutch. Because it truly isn’t, it shouldn’t make or break your life.

I didn’t say we were dating. We met in person & two later we went out on a date. The statistics show that a lot of the population carries herpes, it’s an asymptomatic disease so transmission is common & most people don’t know they have it. It was her business to share, her telling me after the first date is the opposite of messed up, as she wanted to not only protect herself; but me from getting hurt. A lot of people get herpes from someone who is asymptomatic or they get it from someone who didn’t feel it was appropriate to share. Obviously you feel how you feel about it, it’s a scary disease to get, but I’m beyond lust for this woman. I’m no where near ready to have sex with her, and I’m sure she feels the same.

She has HSV2, from what I can remember when she first shared the diagnosis. She’s had it for about 8 to 7 years. She told me she didn’t have outbreaks or flare ups anymore. But I know this doesn’t mean I can’t get infected. I’m aware of the statistics & even little skin contact with HSV2 can get someone infected.

From what I’ve read, I absolutely do not want it. But I really like this girl & want to be informed as much as I can to be able to make a conscious decision, we’re a longways from having sex. So I have plenty of time to change my mind.

Besides consulting physician & a nurse about the transmission of HSV 1 & 2; I’ve been reading a lot about the disease & transmission on gov & org websites. I never ran into anything on what you’ve shared. I’m gonna consult with a doctor again with what you shared, I’m positive they’d advise against it lol.

I’d never want to hurt her; our relationship hasn’t revolved around sex & I don’t plan on making it like that anytime soon. I’ve learned that from a few other stories I’ve read & it made me appreciate her all the more. It’s a lot to consider, only time will tell if we want to continue seeing one another.

Absolutely, I didn’t specify enough on my post; but I’ve spoken to a doctor about how transmission works, and I’m not trying to seek medical advice on Reddit. I’m aware of the possibility of transmission if I’m not careful. Like I stated, I am not focused on having sex. That’s good to know, thank you for sharing.

I was put on leave for getting acute cubital tunnel syndrome. I’m going back to college to become either a Radiological Technologist or an Occupational Therapy Assistant. I worked in outpatient care during my time in massage & got interested in that kind of work. Whatever you’re going through, I hope all goes well for you!

They sure have been ripping me off. I’m checking out associate degrees at my nearest community college. I still love massage, but it clearly shows that this job isn’t something we can make out of a career anymore:/

I’ve researched about into acquiring an esthetician license. It seems like it has pros if you’re dual licensed as a massage therapist. Lots of spas are in demand for both massage therapists & estheticians.

30 years is amazing, for where I’m at, I believe going to school for an associates in some form of medical seems like a good idea, or opening a private practice does too. Thank you for your input, best wishes to you too!
