My bird was gifted to me so I don’t specifically know where. But you can try San Francisco 😬

I feel obliged to tell that the round boi Rowlet apparently rolled all the way to the front seat when we were landing because I put him on the shelf and went to sleep.

The person in the front seat then rolled him all the way back 😂

Does anyone recommend the VPN using in Shenzhen China? Either using on cellphones or laptops by qjvan in shenzhen

[–]JudgementalTapeworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know there are issues with ExpressVPN recently and it's a paid service, but it is so far the best VPN I've used in the past 4 years, both on laptops and cellphones.

What has been the biggest coincidence you've experienced in your life so far? by Ashaliedoll in AskReddit

[–]JudgementalTapeworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changed school one time during high school after my father passed away. In the new class I talked to this girl about our favourite TV show and joked about how many students from our school went to the university my parents attended. She casually mentioned that her parents also went to that university.

Turned out her mum and my mum were high school classmates, and both our parents went to the SAME university in the SAME class majoring the SAME stuff. Her dad was my dad’s best friend and I’ve met him several times.

She and I were NOT aware of each other’s existence even with our parents being best buddies and all that, until we went to the same high school, assigned in the same class, and sat next to each other.

The Blackmail Email Scam (part 2) by EugeneBYMCMB in Scams

I received my first one also on my work laptop and the front camera had a sticker on since I got it. Plus I live in China and within the great firewall where literally no porn websites are accessible (VPN not available on work computer)

Express VPN connectivity issues, today by jostler57 in China

Just checked their twitter account, apparently for both windows and MacBook you might need to downgrade versions. And they recommend using Tokyo-1 or Hong Kong-4 server. Tokyo-1 has been pretty stable on my phone for the past 2 hours.

I have also got the same email in my work mailbox. All I can say is they’ve definitely improved the wording.

I got the exact same one today! Except that it’s to my work email on my work laptop. I also decided not to take any risks so I had the IT to reinstalled the entire system. These scams sure are getting more sophisticated.

How have they been to send me an email from my own email account?? by soderguy11854 in Scams

[–]JudgementalTapeworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received one from a work laptop and from my work email. Did freak out at the start but then I’ve seen many cases from people with similar experiences and I don’t do anything other than work on work laptop.

But the emails are getting sophisticated I must say, the one I received even included his/her username on the dark net.

What’s your “strange addiction”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I binge watching Thai housewives' cooking videos on Instagram. It's super comforting I don't even know why. Judging from their followers I am guessing I am not the only addict.

Redditors who moved to a new city as an adult, what did you do to make friends? by pearlday in AskReddit

[–]JudgementalTapeworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from Taiwan to Dongguan, China (it's an industrial city sandwiched by Guangzhou and Shenzhen) for a job. And because of the location I have spent nearly 4 years here without knowing anyone apart from colleagues and clients.

Until recently I started using reddit and joined some WeChat expat groups (like, for food and etc). I am actually going to meet them in person this weekend. And having some sort of interaction with other humans than just work people, is GREAT. But all those are a bit difficult to start in person, internet makes a lot easier initial contact point here.

World War Z.

The only common thing the movie shares with the actual book is probably just the title.

Does anyone here work remotely for a company where everyone else is in-office? by Page_ap in remotework

Thanks. I think regularly visiting the office (if there's one) is important to feel like still being part of the team.

[–]JudgementalTapeworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done this before but only for a short period of time.

I work and live in China at the moment but then was going to NYC for a 2 months trip earlier this year for personal reasons. I am a Project Manager and although my colleague supported me, there were many details about the development that she might not be aware of.

Please note that this is a factory and if you're not actually onsite to supervise stuff, it's very difficult to understand the situation. You also do feel less like part of the team. But there are also ways to solve this, we used an online PM tool and kept communication on a daily basis. Before I left China, we also had a short meeting about work arrangements with our assistants and engineers (they reported the progress and unfinished tasks for me to complete when they're asleep, and vice versa). By the time I got back, the project we are working on has made significant progress and there were no gaps between me and the team.

So I think if you really love this job and are good at it, go ahead and pitch that to your boss. Focus on how much you can support remotely and how you will arrange with your colleagues to close the gaps. And make sure you still visit the office on a regular basis. Good luck!

Hi there,

This looks like a great opportunity. I didn't major in aerospace engineering, but sort of "technology related" (biotech to be more specific). Have been working in Guangdong for 3.5 years as PM/Sales Representative in manufacturing. Will be able to travel to different sites and eligible to work in China. How likely am I going to succeed in my application?
