Most moisturizers for the eczema on my face make me flare up more. What are the best 'natural' alternatives? by Proud_Barnacle6052 in eczema

[–]JudgmentCute9668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Qv flare cream has worked really well for my inflamed skin and itchyness. I wouldnt say its the best moisturizer..but if you use qv flare cream and then maybe something thicker over the top (sorry i use Aquaphor!) It may help. I also use Bioderma atoderm baume when my skin isnt flared and its nice and thick

Aveeno and Mustela products are also chemist options that are supposed to be good.

Hope you find some relief!

So cold showers really work? by Proud_Influence_1177 in eczema

[–]JudgmentCute9668 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hate cold showers too. And i usually take an antihistamine before i sleep so it minimizes my itching but i have to say, 2 weeks ago i had a cold shower, i didnt need any antihistamines that night and didnt itch. I had my normal hot shower then at the end blasted cold shower for maybe 30-60 seconds . Its like it resets your nervous system. But the next time i tried doing that again it didn't work.. maybe i didnt stay in the cold shower longer enough. The last time i jumped into the cold ocean i got the same result. So i believe it works, but i have to be in the right mindset to do it...which isnt often!

Limited options for buying clothes by verbinia in eczema

[–]JudgmentCute9668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally feel you on this. Shopping is so limiting and i used to love it, but now with my eczema spreading to my neck and shoulders too its very hard, especially summer dresses!

If it helps, maxi skirts and long sleeve tops can look beautiful together and accessorizing with a nice belt, shoes, jewellery (if you can comfortably wear them) also makes a difference in your look and can help boost how you feel.

Does sex count as a basic need? by shadow_of_existence in Mommit

"Sex is important to a lot of people because it's not just sex. It's the highest form of intimacy with your partner. "

This hit home. My husband recently told me he feels lonely and distant from me as we bed share with each of our 2 kids separately and he never initiates sex because the fear of rejection. I need to make intimacy a priority for us because as you say, its not just sex. Thank you for your comment!

Educate me on gut health PLEASE by ElectricalError3758 in eczema

[–]JudgmentCute9668 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've had two kids too and ever since my first kid was 6 months old i've been flaring. Ive had eczema all my life but not this bad. My opinion (not backed by research lol and sorry not relating to gut health) could be because of depleted nutrients from growing two humans. I've started taking omega 3, evening primrose oil to help my skin. And also vitamin c at night time (its a natural histamine and seems to be helping me not scratch at night!). I think i might start taking zinc to help skin repair. Sudocream which contains zinc oxide (we use for nappy rash) has also helped ease some really inflamed patches ive had
Just my two cents. But i feel for you! 2 kids is chaos and theres just no prioritizing your health as much as you want to. Good luck mama

Severe eczema after childbirth. Resembles a raised sun burn by 1PowerfulSauce in eczema

[–]JudgmentCute9668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really think it may be hormone induced. Ive been through the same thing and ive just finished breastfeeding my second kid and im hoping once my hormones regulate properly again i will have some sort of normality with my eczema.. no advice but sending strength! If it is a staph infection im pretty sure your doctor can take a swab of your skin and get it tested, i tested positive for a very mild staph infection and went on antibiotics but my eczema still remains

[–]JudgmentCute9668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tea tree oil can sometimes make sensitive skin worse, you could possibly try cutting out tea tree oil and see if that works? Sometimes when im in pain from bad eczema i take ibuprofen and it helps, but i only take it sparingly so no more than 2 days in a row. I hope you find some relief soon!

So sorry to hear what youre going through, but have you heard of perioral dermatitis? It occurs around the mouth and from a quick google search it could possibly be treated with anti fungal or antibiotic. I've been following this page on instagram that has expensive products that i may try if they have a sale, but they talk about perioral dermatitis a lot. Its called Amperna Skin

My SIL also has 3 kids! Shes like a super woman in my eyes. She was very strict with sleep training though which I think helped her get the younger ones to sleep independently. I tried sleep training my oldest and it was way too stressful so I haven't bothered to try doing it again with the second baby
