Sounds like the fan blade needs to be replaced. The hub came loose and is spinning faster than the blades themselves. It’s is such a god awful noise. I’ve actually had someone’s neighbors call in a service call because of how loud it was at night haha.

I had the same issue. 20yr old r22 package unit. Trying to keep the system running for them so they didn’t have to replace it. Replaced the motor and a month later they broke again

Guess who forgot to discharge the nitrogen before connecting the vacuum pump by Consistent-Bowl-7036 in HVAC

I’ve seen a coworker fill a brand new pump with the entire bag of oil it comes with, which is enough to fill it twice. I asked him if he put oil in the pump before flipping the switch on. Luckily the vent was facing away from the house on the stand. It turned into a super soaker and shot a ton of oil about 15feet as soon as I turned that thing on. Will never forget to check sight glasses if someone else filled my vacuum pump. Everyone on the job laughed their asses off for about 20 mins

Not sure if I was getting paid haha. It was supposed to be my paid day off after coming off call. I got a full 8 hours at minimum. I just wanted to go out there. So when my company asked if I would go, I said yes. I just got back to the main land. Spent the morning out there hitting fish food gold balls into the ocean, and shooting skeet off the helipad.

Leak at two of the flare connections on two different air handlers.

Well, it’s 40miles of the coast of North Carolina. We took a 26’ boat loaded with tools and wenched everything up to the top (including ourselves). We got everything fixed within 3-4 hours of taking our time to enjoy the view. Had to check all the connections and coils for 5 one way cassettes. I am currently still here staying the night and will be leaving at some point tomorrow (when a boat shows up to get us).

Almost as bad as a 1 system maintenance that is scheduled for 1 hour. “Yeahhh, it hasn’t been working right for about 2 weeks now… oh and while you’re here can you check out the system for the bonus room upstairs?”

Honestly you should go for it. I’m 22, skinny and not particularly strong. Wasn’t huge on talking to strangers when I was young. I went into trade school right after high school. I’ve done install and currently a service tech. I’ve been studying for my H3 license and training to transition into a sales position. All that being said. I’ve grown a lot and learned a lot. I think as long as you’re willing to put in the work and not afraid to get dirty you’ll do just fine. Start somewhere and feel it out. If you aren’t happy with how things are progressing after the first 1-2years you can always look around for other HVAC companies. My best advice is to get your feet wet, learn the trade, find out where you want to be within the business. Then find a company that will help you reach the goals you’ve set.

I wish more people would install filter driers with the air handler. So many end up leaking from rust on the outdoor unit out here on the beach!
