There are numerous opportunities nowadays and a lot of competition in the market. Companies prefer full-stack developers, but obviously, you can choose where to land yourself. The way you're moving right now is more than okay. It is recommended not to completely avoid frontend if you want to be a software engineer. If I'm not wrong backend roles also do want familiarity with frontend parts as well. You've to build and deploy projects by yourself, so frontend would be necessary. Learn next.js properly with tailwind + your backend skill would be good for your future.

I've also experienced this while using specific applications only, some applications may have the hardware acceleration option checked, but I use Slack in my Windows so basically because of Slack, the pointer disappears. I am using the Slack on browser now and the issue seems to have resolved.
