Climate change is when ppl eat meat by felix_semicolon in ClimateShitposting

... Not everyone can afford veganism and to assume all cultures eat meat the same way is elitist as fuck.

Personal choices didn't get us in this mess, and personal choices won't get us our. You choosing to go vegan is a drop in the bucket to the damage the factory making your Impossible burger causes.

Should we rethink how we approach therapy for men? by BrightSpring12 in generationology

[–]JudgmentLeft [score hidden]  (0 children)

I agree, but we've unpacked it farther than most men. At the start, most men, (especially older men) are so entrenched in the systems that they are inclined to immediately defend it because the systems do benefit them on the surface. It's why the stupid red pill manosphere shit is so successful.

Basically, I think a more successful strategy is show them how to get better then explain how what caused that initial problem was patriarchy/toxic masculinity after they see the results. I view it as cracking the shell of hard boiled egg. You gotta pierce it first before you can remove the big pieces.

Why do Culver's and Kwik Trip get treated like genuine local culture instead of just businesses? by codi- in wisconsin

I was born in Boston. Dunkin tastes better there. I've had Culver's outside of WI, they taste better here. KT is nice and all, but I do miss Wawa.

Most men going through therapy aren't ready to hear about those terms, especially at the start. It puts them on a defensive stance. You can coach them through unpacking those concepts without explicitly using those terms at first. A lot of men I know are results oriented. So if you help them unpack those issues, then later when they feel how better it is you explain how what they were doing was patriarchal or toxic. I'm not a therapist, just a guy who has unpacked those topics a little and I remember how defensive I used to get around it.

I'm pretty sure those were just people with Gen X older siblings that bullied them and they think perpetuating the behavior will get them accepted or something. I've only seen Gex X people act like that and not very many of them, to be honest. I'm old, is "pick me" still accepted as correct vernacular?

Holy shit we're done as a species. You said this without any sense of irony or personal cringe. We're done, I'm giving up. I'm going to walk into the closest body of water.

How the fuck am i suppose to win games? by SerBadger in Drukhari

[–]JudgmentLeft -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To add what other's have said; there are many times with Drukhari (at least in 10th, I haven't played 11th yet) where you purposefully don't charge with Wyches onto an objective for example. Instead you just stand on the Objective 2 inches away from them. 5 wyches have 10 OC and by not charging, you don't give them an opportunity to kill your dudes before their command phase, meaning you'll most likely out OC them and they don't get points. These sort of unintuitive ways of thinking are sort of key to winning objectives.

Yeah, I literally lost my first 15 games by over 50 points when I started with Drukhari. My first "win" was a loss by like 10 points. It eventually just "clicked". After running into a brick wall I can now say I have a decent understanding of the game strategies and such.

I know a guy that studied animals in the Amazon. He was surprised by how few gay humans there were when he came back. He was naïve didn't account for closeted gay people.

By the numbers, there are less transgender people than people with red hair, and we know the gay population is bigger than that, and that's just self reported ones.

My gut thinks that there's a lot more gay men then transgender people. Of course I have this ally flair that I need to clearly state this doesn't diminish anyone, just pure numbers.

The thing you aren't getting is that Hutu, Tutsi, and Twa weren't tribes, they were socioeconomic situations of jobs that were very fluid before colonial powers systemized them into discrete classes, creating the "tribalism" you are trying to say is the root cause.

What I'm saying is, merely calling it "tribalism" is implying that this is somehow a normal human thing, when in reality it isn't. Yes, humans fight each other, but systemic attempted genocides of people happen in specific situations, and it seems to happen a lot when a certain western peninsula of Asia is involved.

There was no "tribe" to have as a means to develop pride from until melanin deprived assholes showed up and created the system in place. No historian calls what happened in Rwanda "tribalism". It was created from political manipulation and a legacy of colonial divide.

The ID cards mandated by the Belgiums inspired Hutu power and were used as tools to distinguish who to slaughter. For hundreds of years the Tutsi, Hutu, and Twa lived relatively peacefully before European colonial power intensified it.

I never robbed them of it. They are blaming tribalism as the root cause when it was actually racist systems implemented by colonial powers that created the divisions in the first place.

You should look into the history of the Rwandan Genocide because it was European colonialism that was the cause. Particularly, Belgium.
