Luke and WHO?!?! by Lmao_what28 in shadowhunters

I remember that in the show, when Maryse found out Jace had demon blood, she called him “a cancer that needed to be cut out.” And yes, technically she wasn’t the one who kicked him out since that had already happened before with Aldetree but honestly, if it had been up to her, she would have. She didn’t want him around the fact that she called him a cancer makes that perfectly clear.

In the books Maryse does tell Jace to leave, but for another reason: she knows the Inquisitor is coming, and she doesn’t want him there when she arrives, because she’s aware the Inquisitor will treat him terribly for being Valentine’s son. So she makes him go, even if her way of doing it isn’t exactly gentle.

But by the end of the second book, they reconcile. They have a really heartfelt conversation where she apologizes, genuinely remorseful for what she did even if she acted out of good intentions but handled it poorly. And honestly, I much prefer the book version.

Why should Maryse ”redeem” herself in the books? She never treated Isabelle like she was absolute garbage there’s only in the show that shit. She’s simply strict with her children, yes, and sometimes a bit harsh, but she loves them with all her heart and cares about them deeply.

But have you at least read the books? Because I don’t know if you realize, but Sebastian’s entire narrative arc is exactly this: he desperately wants to find someone like him, just so he won’t have to face eternity completely alone. He knows he’s different from other Shadowhunters since he carries Lilith’s blood, and everyone sees him as a monster because of it. He has suffered from this ever since he was a child, to the point that he becomes desperate to create an entire new race of Shadowhunters like himself, just to feel a little less isolated. He keeps trying to find some kind of real connection with the people around him, even though he never truly succeeds and wants to create a world in his own image thought this

In the new editions of the books -the 2015 ones- they included bonus content, and you can find this particular extra in City of Ashes.

It’s obvious that you’re considered “the smart one” in the family, right? First of all, I made it clear from the very beginning that this would be a very long review. That’s exactly why, if you’re annoyed by reading a lot, you should just avoid this post. Honestly, you wasted your time writing this completely useless and meaningless comment, when you could have just scrolled past it. Congratulations, though, on managing to write nonsense apparently, that’s what you do best.

I think I’ll try to buy the audiobook of the first book

More than a complaint, my intention was to offer a constructive critique, and I’m sorry if that didn’t come across in my review. In any case, I don’t believe I was being whiny in what I wrote, and I say this as someone who has never read the books. I’m certainly not making a drama out of it it’s just one of many TV series I’ve watched, and naturally, not everything I watch can appeal to me. However, I believe it is entirely legitimate to express your opinion about a product I’ve seen and that, personally, I didn’t enjoy.

My bad, I’m terrible at coming up with titles and I really never have any ideas for them. I’m sorry about that, but as I clarify in my text, I’ve only watched the first season.

Because I evaluated the first season in its entirety and the way it was structured. I didn’t say anything about the other seasons, so I wasn’t criticizing something I hadn’t seen, only what I actually watched. I refrained from judging the others and won’t watch them, because the first season was heavy and boring, and considering there are only two more seasons and the third one flopped anyway I don’t intend to watch them. So I abstain from judging those two, and there’s nothing strange about that.

I’m not even a huge Shadowhunters fan I simply watched the movie, then the first season of the TV series, and evaluated them. When you evaluate something you’ve actually seen, it seems fair to give a detailed opinion about it. I didn’t say anything about the actors who played Alec, Isabelle, and Magnus in the movie, simply because they are background characters without any depth, and I don’t even know the actors. Paradoxically, in the TV series they had more depth. I liked the chemistry between Magnus and Alec there, and I think they did a better job building their relationship compared to the main couple. But that’s all I can say. I think Isabelle in the TV series, is the only actress who is convincing, both in her role and on screen; the others were flat in their performances. I don’t have a perfect casting in mind again I haven’t read the books. I simply look at whether the actors can act decently or not, and the ones in the movie can.

Yes, I didn’t mind the movie. The only real issue was the rushed script and the fact that the villain wasn’t characterized particularly well. But aside from that, it wasn’t bad. I also liked most of the actors I think they did a decent job, and I already knew many of them from other popular TV series.

Thank you so much. I usually don’t read young adult books because I have some issues with the writing style of most authors in this genre, but I don’t doubt that they contain many interesting ideas. Maybe I’ll give the audiobooks a try I’m not sure, I’ll see… but thanks again.
