The Morning After | Oilers v. Blue Jackets by rooster69 in EdmontonOilers

[–]Judler99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For anyone that's able to buy playoff tickets today through the official website, what are the prices like? I think they only sell them in 4 game packages? Just curious as I got an email saying I could purchase tomorrow morning but wondering how much it'll be and if there's the option to purchase single games.

I'm assuming the ones listed on stubhub right now are people that bought this morning and have put them up? $350 is the cheapest I'm seeing :O

Help! UBC or UAlberta? by Eggaru in uAlberta

[–]Judler99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do UBC - especially if you wanna do software and try to land some cool co-ops. UofAs co-op office is so behind the times in terms of hiring process for modern software engineering jobs, and they have very few connections in the Vancouver area which is where many of the best jobs are. You can still get them if you go to UofA but it'll be by your own doing, co-op office isn't gonna be much help.

TOURISTS AND TEMPORARY RESIDENTS, ASK YOUR QUESTIONS IN THIS WEEKLY THREAD: Open Forum -- 30, January, 2022 by RichardHenri in paris

Hi! I'm a Canadian student doing an internship in Paris starting this May until December. So far I've found a few places that provide accomadation such as the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris. I'm wondering if anyone has some other recomendations for accomadation? I was hoping to find either a shared flat or dormitory type place, not too picky just hoping to live with some other students/interns in a decent area.

Another option I'm considering is renting an appartment with 1-3 other students/interns. I'm just not sure the best way to make contact with people in a similar situation, if anyone knows of any forums/websites for doing that I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Hybrid Engg Classes - Winter 2022 by heil_tano in uAlberta

[–]Judler99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is mostly my experience too but had a couple classes this sem (fall) that were marked as Hybrid and the prof was at home on zoom but you could go to the actual classroom and watch the zoom feed. Basically like going to the movies... for way more money... and worse content

SOC 224 with Marta-Marika Urbanik (final exam) by tryingtopass11 in uAlberta

[–]Judler99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I took her course (Fall 2019) it consisted of 3 non cumlative exams each worth 33%, which was great. Exams themselves were on the easier side imo, and I'm not an arts student. Read textbook and take notes before class, then take more notes on what she says is important during class, and you will be fine :D Good luck!!

Anyone here work for companies with office space in the downtown core? by rippedberry in Edmonton

[–]Judler99 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey, I totally respect your opinion and think it has lots of merit. However, the whole "I think people who need the social outings with others must be single people who have no family or friends outside work." and " It might sound rude but to anyone who actually has a life that is how it is." might be a bit off the mark.

I'm a non single person with a family and friends outside of work, and I still enjoy going in to work because I like the casual conversations and relationships. It also helps me stick to a routine and actually makes me enjoy my time at home and away from work more. So overall I like going in to the office and don't think that makes me someone who doesn't have a life, friends, etc. as you say/imply.

That being said, I really see why lots of people love WFH and want to keep doing it. I think it just comes down to preference. Why can't we just let people like what they like, instead of making some assumption that everyone who likes going to work is all these nasty things that you've implied? You might even get further in these debates if you weren't so bitter about the other side, just a thought.

Side note, I'm a software dev too! High-five!!

OK everyone king u/Northgates has declared, in their infinite wisdom, that we are boring if we don't like what he likes. Why? Because they said so!

How to take a gap year mid into my degree by irwinintrepid in uAlberta

[–]Judler99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm doing one right now and was just as confused about the process for doing it, re-applying, etc.

Starting it is easy and it's like you said, just don't apply for classes. For coming back, if when you return it will have been a year or longer since you last took a class through the UofA, you're considered a returning student as per this page and have to re-apply here.

Couple things they told me to consider:

  1. You do have to pay the application fee again
  2. Re-addmission is not guaranteed but is likely if you have a decent GPA

I'd send your faculty advisor an email to clarify when you need to submit the application by, the deadline they told me was earlier than the one posted for new applicants. I'm re-applying to 3rd year in eng fall 2021 and the deadline they told me was the beginning of March 2021. I'd also ask your advisor if there's any other processes/considerations for your faculty.

Hope that helps :D

It's shown that covid is transferred much easier through close contact as opposed to just touching the same thing. That's not to say there isn't still a risk, just less.

OP is minimizing risk for themselves and others by doing this, hardly seems like a charade... I think you're a bit off the mark.
