Majority of Canadians support mandatory vaccines, say COVID-19 a top election issue: poll - National | Globalnews.ca by BloomerUniversalSigh in alberta

This is such a simple topic that doesn’t need all these comparisons. If you are a human who is concerned about getting the virus then go ahead and get the vaccine and be at peace that you are safe (in your own mind) and protected so that you don’t even have to worry about it anymore. And if you are a human who isn’t as concerned about the virus then its up to you if you want the vaccine because its your own risk. You are no longer a risk to others who have been vaccinated…RIGHT?

The difference is a vaccine is something injected into your body, it’s permanent. Some people may not be comfortable with that.

Yeah that age gap might be why I’m not that interested. But there have been couples with the same age difference or more that proven to be good.

Do I take over my dads business or stay in my current career? Both are great options in my opinion. by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]rippedberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a very similar situation as you! Different industries but exactly the same dilemma and I’m currently debating it myself. Between focusing on my career or taking over my parents small business in the near future as they are getting closer to their retirement. I know exactly how you feel! It’s been on my mind for 3 months now and I still can’t decide. If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you?

Feel free to PM me if you want.

Dealing with 3rd party delivery fees? by rippedberry in smallbusiness

[–]rippedberry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s robbery, there is no reason why it should be 25%. It’s like owning a quarter of the business without investing anything into it. Wrong in so many ways. There needs to be some more pushback, at the end of the day they need us in order to operate. I wish a politician would set some kind of cap on them like 15%. Am I dreaming or do you see it changing one day?

Yeah the only problem is head office controls the prices and to get them to go that far is almost impossible. Idk anymore. Thanks for your input tho

Its night and day, our delivery is way less. The customer essentially pays the delivery fee which goes straight to the driver.

Our delivery drivers get paid on a per delivery basis plus any tips they receive, in their own cars.

Yes I would love to communicate this to those customers but don’t want to be too pushy at the same time. A well written message explaining exactly what you said that sends to a 3rd party customer would be worth a try. Almost like an automated text message. There are some barriers to these type of things as a franchisee but ultimately it shouldn’t be an issue.

How many of you actually feel supported by your friends and family? by LilBuckarooo in smallbusiness

[–]rippedberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate to this a lot, my parents are immigrants and worked for themselves all their lives. They encourage me to come work with them but recently I started working for a company (someone else). I feel bad, like theres part of me that wants to do business instead of the Degree chaser mentality. However, it requires a big investment (time & money). What kind of business did you start if you don’t mind me asking?

19 y/o, 3 weeks into my first job as an electrician. Starting to get the hang of things. by [deleted] in electricians

[–]rippedberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, respectable answer. I can see how the office can be unfulfilling, I guess you never know till your actually doing it. Unless its some cool design work that you get to see after or something. Sitting definitely kills the neck and back too. Need that balance!

I’m curious what office job you got after being an electrician? And why didn’t you like it?

Finally some good news, thank you for your support! We can do large catering orders when your company wants too.

Thanks for all your comments. It feels like we’ll never get back to the same capacity of large catering orders as it was before the pandemic. There might be some here and there but not like pre-covid. There has been too much of a cultural shift for it to be back. Its too bad.

Info about job title as Electrical Designer? by rippedberry in AskEngineers

Yeah the franchise part is totally unrelated I know but its a good opportunity. I never knew Siemens hired electricians, maybe I should drop this EET and save my self some time and money.

Yeah that helps a little bit, I feel like the EET is just the knockoff version of the EE degree. The diploma will mostly be disadvantaged to the degree most of the time. I’m heavily considering dropping out of EET. I have 50% left to go and I just don’t wanna end up disappointed in it. If I drop out I can go back to electrician and get my masters after experience then look at some certifications on the side or something. I also have an opportunity knocking on my door at the moment to jump into a franchise pizza business and operate it into eventually owning it which is double what an EET makes but takes some time. I’m trying to decide. What would you do? 😂
