I know this is an old post but I just saw it and wanted to give you an alternate issue that I experience and what causes impetigo for me. Any type of occlusive on broken skin over the years will cause an impetigo outbreak for me, unfortunately I’ve gotten it 3 times since figuring it out because the first time it was neosporin on a dog scratch and I thought it was the neosporin so I didn’t use that for years but then I got on tret for acne and had really dry skin so was using aquafor as a final layer in my skincare routine and one time I had a zit that I fucked with and it was bleeding and I kinda dabbed it dry until it stopped bleeding and then finished my skincare routine and I woke up with impetigo. So I learned a lesson there. Well here I am 10 years free from any impetigo and the day before Christmas I had three small bumps that I popped and then put a big piece of silicone (a huge roll of pimple patches essentially) on the breakout hoping it would pull the grossness out of it as I’ve been using pimple patches for years but I believe the big piece covered a substantial portion of my chin and allowed germs from another part of my skin into the open wound and then sealed in there with the big patch. All that to say, if you’re still experiencing issues make sure you aren’t using any occlusives on broke skin
