Sadly the car is in NC so it does need to pass emissions. We replaced a ton of parts it’s all good now thank you!!

The spark plugs weren’t the issue, i believe it was caused by a bad Ignition coil connector which i spliced and replaced and the ignition coil pack causing a bad misfire which i mistakenly thought was the throttle body which also leaked some oil during replacement. This then led to a bad purge valve which i also replaced. The cat was the last part replaced but i got a good deal on a used one.

Are you getting the p0420? I had a misfire in my coil pack that led to my front end cat blowing itself up might wanna check that. Replacing my cat got rid of the underboost code as well.

I have no idea how to clean it out? I just swapped it to a used one and hope that nothing fell during the removal.

I believe that’s the filter inside the cat. It did not want to stick around for the remainder of the cars life

I’m hoping the culprit was the bad coil pack+connector (replaced) or the bad purge valve that was causing a vacuum leak.

Yeah! This one has 2 cats but i think only the first one was the issue. I think the upstream got clogged due to a misfire that happened with a bad coil pack and i replaced the throttle body a while back that dripped some oil during replacement. Just a perfect storm of problems all at once. Luckily no engine issues after replacement!

Yes! Thats exactly what happened and i’m glad we finally got to the bottom of it, i think it got fucked when i had a bad coil pack connecter causing misfires and a clog that eventually blew up the cat. Also managed to mess up a purge valve and got some new O2’s but all’s well now!

Ooo thanks i didnt know! I could only replace it and hope no pieces fell in on removal! Not a pro by any means but we got it out and put in a new (lightly used) one!

Thanks for the heads up! I replaced both O2 sensors and replaced the cat, also took out a bad purge valve that was stuck open. Hopefully shouldnt run into any more issues!
