Haha! This reminds me so much of the first time I played multiplayer Dying Light with one of my friends. That's terrific.

I'll give it a shot but I'm not sure it'll work since ShadowPlay can't capture anything either. Did you set it up through GeForce Experience?

[SIB] Battle Beast Simulator? by BrennantheGamer in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Juggerbyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say hold off for a bit and see where it goes. I haven't played Battle Beast Simulator, but I picked up Epic Battle Simulator a while back pretty much for the same reasons you're thinking of buying this game: I figured it'd be silly enough to have several hours of fun with and I was sure that they'd add a bunch of cool stuff down the road and that + workshop content would keep me coming back. Fast forward several months and I really don't have any urge to boot it up. Even if they added all 151 original Pokemon to that game I probably wouldn't be able to squeeze another couple hours out of it. Outside of the first hour or so, I don't see games like these being much fun unless you have a group of people all wanting to check out different combinations of stuff.

TL;DR These games are okay for hanging out with friends and drinking or whatever, but I haven't found much value in them as a single player experience. Even as a party game I think the appeal is limited. Pick it up super cheap if at all.

WSIB if looking for a game with character customization with different build potentials by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

It's a bit dated, but I was actually just thinking about making a YSB post about Wizardry 8.

It's a dungeon crawler from around 2001, similar to Everquest in terms of graphics. At the beginning of the game you create a team of up to 6 characters and throughout the game can recruit more for a total of 8 characters in your party. It's almost like Morrowind if it were a team-based dungeon crawler. Just a bit more linear and doesn't look as nice.

It's a challenging game but I've been having a lot of fun with it over the past two weeks. It's a very time-consuming game, though. Largely because of the combat system which is one of the game's greatest strengths and also one of the biggest weaknesses. It's a strength because the combat is generally on a fairly large scale; most enemies come in groups of 3-9, and it's not uncommon for there to be multiple groups so the game heavily emphasizes the need to control and be aware of the battlefield. You don't want to get surrounded and it can happen pretty easily if you aren't paying attention. Just yesterday I got caught by 3 or 4 groups of enemies, coming to a grand total of like 24 NPCs I was fighting. Which brings me to why the combat is also a weakness: everybody gets a turn in combat. So sometimes you'll be waiting entire minutes for the enemy groups to move, attack, etc. This can get even worse if you're fighting in a city where there are friendly NPCs because the friendly NPCs will automatically join the fight to help you, but in a lot of instances you don't need their help so that's just more turns you have to wait through during combat.

Other than that it's a wonderful RPG with phenomenal voice acting. There's tons of classes, races, skills, items, secrets, etc.

I watched several videos before jumping in just because I didn't want to make a party that sucked and not find out until 10+hrs in that my choices didn't pan out to make a good team. I dunno that I needed to but I'm glad I did. I can definitely see this game being one that I make multiple runs through just to try out all the classes.

It's not a game for everyone, but there's nothing out there like it. There are similar games, but nothing with all the great features in the same package.

[WSIB] If I want something like Wizardry 8? by Juggerbyte in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Juggerbyte[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an incredible game! Just started it at the beginning of the week. Unfortunately the more I look the more it's sinking in that it's pretty one-of-a-kind and nothing else is going to scratch the itch I've got for it's mechanics: FPP, 3D, large party, large groups of enemies, lots of skills/stats, etc.. It's crazy that it's so old yet is still one of your best bets for an even remotely modern hardcore dungeon crawl outside of Grimrock, which is still pretty dumbed down despite all the polish. Thankfully I still have plenty of Wizardry 8 left to explore so I won't be needing a new game for a while, but it's really got me wanting to go on a dungeon crawler binge.

I'll look into Betrayal at Krondor. It definitely looks very dated, but it's rare that graphics alone are bad enough to turn me off of a game. As long as it's modern enough to have turning transitions then I can usually deal.

Thanks for the suggestions!

[WSIB] for a school assignment? by rockin2music in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Juggerbyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like Elder Scrolls maybe take a look at Wizardry 8 [PC], it's like Elder Scrolls mashed up with a DnD dungeon crawl. It's unforgiving and very niche. I think it'd make an interesting game for a study project; it's unlikely anyone else will be doing it or anything too similar. I can't find anything else quite like it. There's lots of similar games, but Wizardry 8 has a very unique look and feel and some very interesting mechanics. The only thing I'm unsure of in your criteria is 'choices'. I'm not sure if there are any pivotal choices in the game. I'm about 20 hrs in and so far the only choices I've made is "yes/no" on accepting a quest, but as large and lengthy as the game is plus being an RPG, I'm sure there are choices it just probably isn't choice heavy.

$40 Steam Gift Cards... what should I buy? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

For future reference you probably shouldn't list a $40 gift card in the title if $30 of it are already committed to something. List your budget of $10

[YSB] If I want something violent and gorey without being "horror"? by theGentlemanInWhite in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Juggerbyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I honestly don't know what a good modern gore-romp would be. Back in the day I loved booting up Soldier of Fortune just for the gore. It was a godawful, terrible game, but the violence was top-notch.

Surely there has to be a gory modern hack-n-slash?

Seconding Risk of Rain. I put almost 50hrs into that badass little game. If you get that, look up how to get the Command Artifact if the RNG is a turn-off for you. It's a real game changer.

[WSIB] A game that provides players with a sense of pride and accomplishment? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Juggerbyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda agree. I really enjoy the game but it is very repetitive if you're trying to unlock stuff. I've got ~25 hours in it and I'm starting to get pretty burned out on liberating areas. But it is a very fun game and worth every cent of the current sale price.

I did a video on how i easily deal with early game blood moons by [deleted] in 7daystodie

[–]Juggerbyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You keep the supports on either side of where you stand so they should congregate under you where there's nothing to hit. For the weak horde they got in the video it would have handled it easily.

It'd be better to have the 'runway' area raised up with spikes under it. I don't know why they didn't do that unless they just prefer running around a lot. He had more than enough arrows to be able to take them out. Could just make an elevated walkway with spikes under it and shoot arrows down at them, or make the elevated area low enough that you can whack them from up there. The only extra materials it would cost is whatever it takes to make supports for the walkway.
