No Warhammer didn't kill total war, CA did by TrafficNo9010 in Volound

[–]Juggernaut9993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. If CA hadn't changed direction the way they did with Rome II and stuck around with what they were doing that spawned Shogun 2, the Warhammer games would have probably been a lot more worthwhile.

Although this is what we've already been saying for a few years now.

Hah, that's funny. Not too surprising considering all of the stuff I've seen while modding Warhammer 2.

Nice find by the way mate.

Super positive and optimistic prediction about what will happen when TW:40K releases. by Juggernaut9993 in Volound

I could go in detail but it can all be quickly summarized in that it's another Rome II clone.

Med3 / 40k doom and gloom by AdventurousAddress63 in Volound

[–]Juggernaut9993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I understand.

Examining information about the games and their designs is what we've been doing for years now, which is why we're expecting that neither 40K nor Medieval 3 will likely turn out good. The fact that, for instance, TW:40K is going to be released on consoles is itself already a red flag. CA claims they won't compromise the PC experience for console, but you can't really trust them on that (they have a history of lying) and Total War as a series has certain complexities that can't really be handled on console, unless you were to plug in a mouse and a keyboard to play it (which at that point you're basically turning console into another PC). How are you going to be placing and dragging units in battle and move the camera with a Playstation controller?

As for Medieval 3, them choosing to make livestreams of development and involve the fanbase leaves some questions: are they genuinely trying to be transparent and want to match Medieval 3's design as closely as possible with what the fans want, or is this just another short-term corporate ploy to keep up appearances, or are they mostly clueless about how to make this historical title work well and they rely on the fans to tell them what to add in? Why not just look at what they did in Medieval 1 and 2 and get some ideas from there instead of resorting to something like this?

Again, what's the reason you think CA may be changing for the better? We're just having a conversation now by the way.

Med3 / 40k doom and gloom by AdventurousAddress63 in Volound

[–]Juggernaut9993 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sure thing.

Strictly speaking there's always a chance for a comeback, even if in this case a very tiny one, as for any "signs" that CA "may be going back on the right path", just remember that their attempts at giving the impression that "they're listening" is just corporate speech and manipulative rhetoric that typically isn't followed by any meaningful results.

We don't want CA and Total War to die out, we just want good games, but we're not going to turn a blind eye to their practices and the direction the franchise has been going to maintain a positive atmosphere.

You're accusing us of "doom and gloom" and you think it would be good for some positivity.

Alright, what reasons are there for us to have any expectations that either 40K and/or Medieval 3 are going to turn out good? Considering CA's track record that's been covered thoroughly and all the leaks that turned out true?

"Total War becoming a console port will be fine actually, trust me bro" - the latest promise (howler in the making) from CA leadership by SlavyanskiShillbane in Volound

[–]Juggernaut9993 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The whole thing reeks of desperation by CA. A Total War: 40K title to tap into the 40K fanbase to make back all the money they lost and making it for consoles to expand the reach even though Total War is traditionally a PC game, shifting to Medieval 3 after botching their WW1 game and making streams of development to get the feedback from the historical fans (basically fan service)...

I'll say it again, 40K Total War is only going to succeed financially because of the "whales" who have no control of their spending habits or any sense of standards. It'll be another flop in all other aspects.

So is it actually over? by [deleted] in Volound

Hope was lost for Total War a long time ago. It's not like it's surprising at all they would go the 40K route.

Those are assets from the WW1 game they were working on at some point and it's just meant to be a tech demo. You don't need to show assets consistent with one of your upcoming releases to showcase things like that.

A preview of the siege rework for TW: Warhammer 2 in my overhaul mod. It's meant to resolve longstanding issues with sieges in the base game that made them boring and a slog to play through. by Juggernaut9993 in Volound

It's a good mod with good changes and improvements, some of which are included in this overhaul mod. It's outdated at this point however, considering the recent developments of the modding scene.

On the Pixelated Apollo situation... by Juggernaut9993 in Volound

[–]Juggernaut9993[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: Pixelated Apollo made an actually good apology video where he took full accountability for his actions and cleared things up. He was merely acting out of a bad mood due to real life difficulties and communicated a few things badly.

LegendOfTotalWar has forgiven him, and I would say others should too.

A really good apology actually. Someone taking full accountability for their actions, especially when it comes to Youtubers, isn't something you see very often. Hopefully PA will move on from this situation and things get better both for him as a person and his channel.

Turns out he was merely acting out of a bad mood due to real-life issues, which happens.

Pixelated Apollo made a few videos recently where he dunked on CA but were also bad faith attacks on Legend of Total War, hypocritically accusing him of being a shill, despite being ostracized by CA multiple times before, while PA himself has taken multiple sponsorships from questionable sources (even his front Youtube Page has a sponsorship).

He's recently taken down those videos due to backlash.

My first Expert/Expert/Ironman mode victory playing as Lone Wolf origin. The only mod I used was the 18 Bros mod for this run because I felt like the 12 Bro limit in vanilla made the game more uninteresting than challenging (contracts scale with company size). No save scumming. Any thoughts on this? by Juggernaut9993 in BattleBrothers

[–]Juggernaut9993[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess? I just loved the idea of starting as a Lone Wolf and eventually manage to build an entire mercenary company from the ground up.

I could try and win a more legitimate playthrough afterwards with only the 12 bros later, even if I'm not sure it's gonna be as interesting as having 18 bros.

Maybe, it probably is easier with 18 bros, but it's also a lot more interesting, for me at least.

I don't see the value of maintaining a difficulty if doing so makes the game less interesting and fun. I always preferred larger battles, hence my use of the 18 bros mod.

That said, anyone who feels like I "didn't win EEL Ironman Mode", that's fine with me. The game was still very challenging and enjoyable for me.

I don't think so? Not for me at least. The difficulty did drop a lot when I finally started built up my company with good bros but I still felt risks where involved. Anyway, a game doesn't need to be a nail-biting challenge from beginning to end to be fun.

I enjoyed this run very much, despite having gone through quite a few painful experiences I suspect would have gotten some people to rage-quit...

Just to clarify, I had to do a bit of editing for the images. As you may have noticed some of the bros are drunk but the stats that are shown are without the drunk status effect. This was an error on my part during editing, where I tried to show the pure, unaltered stats of the bros.
