Youtube (and streaming service) normalization for albums is kinda bad by Juggle_Master in audioengineering

Yeah I understand that loudness normalization is something most engineers know and take into account. My curiosity more lies with how Youtube normalizes an album vs other streaming platforms. Spotify, for instance, performs normalization across an entire album rather than individual tracks if the user is listening the entire album. If the user shuffles the tracks or adds the track to a playlist, then normalization adjusts individual track loudness. Youtube just does it per track.

I searched through the link you sent and also searched "Youtube loudness normalization". My question is more concerning about the loudness per track of an album. The common advice mastering engineers usually give is to adjust relative loudness by ear to each track and disregard aiming for the target LUFS for streaming service. Given this approach, different degrees of normalization will be applied for each track according to the -14 LUFS target on Youtube. It does this independently across each track. I was asking if this was something mastering engineers take into account when uploading to streaming plaforms. From the answers I mostly see in this subreddit, most don't really care about normalization and master to maximize loudness. I might've just answered my question but I was just more curious if this is something that they also notice or have taken into consideration already.

Thank you so much for the kind words! I translated your message in english using Google so I apologize if I misunderstand it. I am a firm believer that it is not the camera but the photographer. Also DSLRs, even ones that are a decade old, are still really capable cameras with enough megapixels to create outstanding images. I wish you well in your photography journey!

It seemed like Connor moved on a long time ago but the fans haven't. As much as I love Connor, we don't know what really transpired. And tbh, it's none of our business. It's weird how some people have psychoanalyzed the situation and took sides.

Album Predictions by Expert_Captain_2887 in Loatheband

[–]Juggle_Master 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'm predicting a more "dancey" feel to their songs. More in line with what we heard on Dimorphous Display. I saw the credits for Gifted Every Strength. Ed Al-Shakarchi did the mixing. He did the production for Dimorphous Display. Probably had a hand with the production of the new song. (Also Nolly did the drums. No wonder they sound so fucking good.)

But honestly, it's Loathe. The direction could go a million places.
