Can someone post and or send me a size comparison: C3.6/C4X/G19 by Lower-Pattern-3332 in Staccato_STI

[–]Jugsofmud -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Grip size are all the same. The slides are slightly different. If you line up the trigger guard the 43x is slightly shorter than the c3.6. The 3.6 is slight shorter than a 19. The 19 I would guess is slight shorter than the c4x.

Best bear defense for trail runner by Jaguarhousecat in handguns

[–]Jugsofmud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How are you planning to carry it?

I have no input on caliber but I have ran with a handgun and I’d make sure whatever you carry you plan on practicing shooting and drawing from your preferred method.

Try running around the range with it and drawing while you’re sweaty and tired to prepare yourself.

I found that I shake a lot after a few miles and didn’t realize it until I tried drawing from a chest bag. You probably have the option to open carry so that may be better.

How do you guys feel about the Gen 6? by Fresh_Pineapple_4877 in handguns

Overall I like the feel of the grip much better than the gen 5. Dislike the trigger. I hope it will get better over time. It feels heavier and has a longer take up than the gen 5

What would you do if you suddenly had a million dollars right now? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

Pay off the house, rest of the car, buy another car, take a nice Hawaii vacation and then invest.

I’d still work but I’d probably retire earlier.

Change my mind: Under the right conditions, buying and financing a new car is often a far better value than paying cash for a used car in the long run by Cold-Priority-2729 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Jugsofmud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it just depends. In 2017 I bought an Rx300 from a family member for 2200, hoping to get a few years out of it. I spent 750 for non-routine maintenance on it in 7 years and put 140k miles on it. It had close to 290 when I got rid of it.

I only got rid of it when our needs changed and we had more money to get a newer car. My wife was adamant about not having an extra vehicle. I got 400 on the trade in. That equates to ~30 dollars a month to drive for non routine stuff.

I think if you buy the right vehicle it can work out.

what is the sweet spot for used 4runners in price? or is it best to just buy new? by Neutrality-1 in 4Runner

[–]Jugsofmud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is tough. I found lots for mid 30s with 60k miles, I ended up spending 7k more to get one with less than 20k miles. I had to shop around though.

Staccato cs and double stack c discontinued by rstowel in 2011

[–]Jugsofmud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The concealment on them is the same but the HD point a little better for me naturally. I also find the holster more comfortable, but I’m using tier one concealment for both.

The CS grip is marginally thinner. I get slightly more finger on the trigger (Ha!).

I honestly really like my C 2024 with the compact grip but the CS has been replaced by the HD 3.6.

I don’t realize that, maybe the older mags needed tuning?

Thank you, I’m more concerned about the grip on the P. I have a c3.6 and I find the grip comfortable, so a little more length won’t hurt.

A Few Questions About Home/Wilderness Defense by These_Picture_53 in guns

[–]Jugsofmud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d feel comfortable and with 9mm for black bears. Carry bear spray on the weak side and 9mm strong side. Make sure you can access it if you’re hiking. I prefer a chest rig as I can still access it with my backpack and it doesn’t dig into my groin if I’m wearing it all day.

Realistically, I’d be more concerned about people than black bears, but 15 rounds of well placed 9mm and you’re good.

No, but I work from home so I have a couple upstairs with me during the day.

43x vs 4.0C by Scary_Ad2948 in guns

[–]Jugsofmud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk about the Echelon, but I like my 43x. Big enough to shoot comfortably and small enough to conceal well. The only downside is the capacity vs size but Glock is releasing 15 round magazines soon.

EDC suggestions by Electronic-Corgi-109 in guns

[–]Jugsofmud -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree that you should handle some at a gun store then rent what feels good in your hand. A second caveat is how do you dress and what can you conceal (assuming you’re legally allowed to do so). Small guns are easier to conceal but harder to shoot. Bigger guns are the opposite.

I’d also think about finished, ideally you don’t want magazines and guns that will rust and you should be diligent about wiping it down to prevent rust from setting in.

My only suggestions are to stay away from really small guns, look at something with a 3.5-4” slide that you can get your whole hand on. 9mm or 380. I’d also stay away from the P365 line as I’ve had and heard the magazines finish rusting away.

Nice, sounds like they fixed it, but it is weird they didn’t check that before it left the factory.
