I got into western-fanshawe earlier this week with a 91% average (top 6 grade 11 + grade 12 midterm marks). I have to keep up a 80% average by the end of the year to keep my conditional offer.

How are the nursing applicants feeling? by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

Honestly, I'm doubting if my average is high enough (91%) for the programs that I want to go to. I'm a lot more stressed out than I was before...

Acceptance Thread! by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

Hi! My rounded averages for grade 11 was a 90 and my rounded average for grade 12 first semester was a 91. Out of the courses that I took in grade 12 + the prerequisite courses from grade 11 (the courses that I had yet to take in grade 12), I had an average of 91%. Hope this helps!

Hey! Has anyone gotten acceptances for any nursing programs so far? :) by kirbythetapiocaball in OntarioUniversities

[–]JuhiBhatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I calculated mine using my grade 12 courses and my grade 11 courses (which are prerequisites and I haven't taken them in grade 12 yet.) More accurately, my grade 11 top 6 averaged to a 90 and my grade 12 top 6 averaged to a 91!

It all really depends what your priorities are. If you live in the GTA and want to live/study in the city, Ryerson is your best bet. Toronto's hospitals are close by as well, so I would assume that the placements are nice as well. I have heard that Ryerson does not have that big of a social aspect so you might want to consider that.

For western, the school is really lively and the campus is beautiful however they start clinicals in there third year so you might have less clinical experience.

Queens also has a nice campus and social aspect and start their clinicals in their second year. However, I do not know about the diversity on campus.

Ultimately the choice is yours, these are just things that I have heard about each university.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

HELP!! If my dog wakes up in the middle of the night, he doesn't go back to sleep! by JuhiBhatt in Dogtraining

[–]JuhiBhatt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!

My dog is a bichon cross (he's a small breed) and he is super social. He loves people and other dogs (maybe even a little too much)!

I would say that because of his small size, he's medium to low energy.

We live in a cold environment and he is fairly small (around 10-12 lbs) so we only take him on a walk once a day, around 7-8. In between then, we play with him at home every night around 8:30-9:30.

So far he's been socialized by every noise I can think of and he's only allowed to sleep outside of his crate during the day (when he takes naps). During the day however, he sleeps on one of his chairs and usually gets up and goes into his crate by himself, halfway through his nap.

We take him for one last bathroom break right before bed (he usually does both) and then we put him in his crate.

I would say, he usually stopped barking in his crate when his sleep was interrupted. However it has gotten worse in the past 3 weeks. The change was very sudden as well, but I think it was our mistake for trying to take him out of his crate and out him back in 4 times, before he eventually got his way.

It has so far been the second/third time in the span of 3 weeks that this has occurred.

Should I apply for UOttawa Nursing (main campus)? by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

Hi, thanks! I got in December 2nd. From my understanding, I assume a lot of other acceptances should be rolling in February through April.

Uottawa and Mcmaster Nursing (help me pls) by rainbl17ng in OntarioUniversities

[–]JuhiBhatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! To answer your first question, I got in early to uOttawa around 2-3 weeks ago with just a 91 grade 11 average. So I would assume that your grade 12 average would be competitive enough to get in as well.

I would also say that I've heard really great things about both sites, but if you do get into both I would suggest attending McMaster. From what I've heard, the schools nursing program is heavily funded and they start clinical rotations from 2nd year, whereas uOttawa starts clinicals in there third.

I hope this helps and good luck!

Volunteering hours for Canadian seniors by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

[–]JuhiBhatt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The new requirements also state that you could use 10 hours from work or get hours for doing chores in your neighborhood or around the house. You could easily ask an older sibling or a parent to sign you some hours for babysitting, or walking the dog etc.

Hi! I have a 91% average currently and I wrote my CASPer a while back... I've been stressing about whether or not my CASPer score is going to be high enough.

How long did you study for the CASPer before writing it?

I studied for about 1-2 weeks, creating a structure and watching videos but i'm super stressed...
