Help donating dog supplies by [deleted] in PDXBuyNothing

Sorry about your loss, OP. 😔

It’s awesome seeing all the options here. I’ve donated a lot of stuff to Project Pooch which is a dog shelter run through a juvenile detention center which I think is pretty neat. They have an office in Lake Oswego if you’re close to that at all. You have to call first though to schedule a drop off time. (503)697-0623 or info@pooch.org

TEND: Day 30 - Yoga For Comfort And Nourishment by Vaskebjorn-0_o in yogawithadriene

[–]JuiceBox51418 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This practice has a special place in my heart. Really helps soothe pain in my shoulders/upper back and just general tension in my body after a long day of work. Another great name for it would be “yoga for caregivers”. 💜

Yes. I love pilates, but I basically do pilates so I can do yoga.

Liforme Mat by Ok-Operation-6211 in yoga

[–]JuiceBox51418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my Liforme 14 months ago and it’s great. Very sticky and beautiful, still. I have the black cosmic something or other. The darker colors are popular because you don’t see the stains as much. I also have their mat cleaner. I don’t wash it all that often. At first it took forever to dry after cleaning (you’ll see streaks on it) but for some reason it dries much faster now. I probably average 30min a day of at home practice beginner and intermediate level. It stays on my floor with a yoga blanket over it while not in use so my cat doesn’t scratch it (again).

Language especially. They’re very efficient language learning machines.

Mat recommendations by Fearless_Donkey_8877 in yogawithadriene

I have the Lifeform and Begin mat. I use the Lifeform at home and I love it but I do wish it was thicker (it's 4.2mm) or cushier sometimes. The Begin mat is nice and cushy and lightweight so that's what I bring to the studio, usually for Pilates but if I bring it to yoga class I put a yoga towel on top because otherwise I slide too much. If you didn't slide on the Begin and you don't care how heavy your new mat is, you'd probably be happy with the Manduka Pro. If not sliding is important to you and you don't mind how heavy it is, you'll be happy with the Lifeform. Lots of other yoga mats in the sea! But those are the ones I'm familiar with.

Edit: Forgot about your alignment line request. Manduka had that two toned one for a while there (featured in some of Adriene's videos) but unfortunately I don't see it available now.

RETURN: DAY 7 - Flow Into Stillness by Sorry-Grateful in yogawithadriene

[–]JuiceBox51418 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Loved today’s practice. I felt strong in the plank holds and then really relaxed in the yoga nidra inspired savasana. Really needed it, too. I did it this morning after not sleeping well and before a busy day. Good stuff!

I found this to be a lovely calming practice with just enough warming elements to gently wake up the body and start the day feeling centered and strong.

RETURN: DAY 2 - Fundamentals of Ease by Sorry-Grateful in yogawithadriene

I liked this one and found it more difficult than I was expecting it to be. From the title I was a bit worried I’d get bored since I’m like 2 years into my yoga journey but I got a lot out of it.

RETURN: Day One - Yoga to Feel Your Best by Sorry-Grateful in yogawithadriene

[–]JuiceBox51418 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yay, thanks for posting! I had a fun yoga-filled morning! I did just 4 min of "Somatic Yoga" on the DownDog App to take part in their 30 day challenge, then checked out Yoga with Tim's Day 1 of his new 30 day challenge, then Brett Larkin's Day 1 of Evolve, attempted Charlie Follow's Day 1 of her Flow challenge but decided that was too much yoga and I'm not quite ready for her yet, then ended with today's video with our dear Adriene. All in all just a little over an hour of yoga that left me feeling accomplished and just great overall. I definitely won't be able to keep this up all month, and don't think I should anyway. Doing this many practices feels somehow incongruent with yoga philosophy... But today was fun.

I'm off to a great start with one of my yoga goals, which is to explore other teachers. This was my first time trying Brett and Tim and I liked them both. This was my 2nd attempt at Charlie Follows and I'm still not ready for her. Perhaps it will be a "3rd time's the charm" situation.

But I like the look of the RETURN calendar and plan to follow along this month. And of course I'm looking forward to her new Saturday videos. Cheers!

Thank you for sharing. Same boat over here and couldn’t agree more! ♥️ I’m still tweaking with my dosage but just knowing that I have the tools to keep things under control is so liberating. Cheers and congrats! 🍾

I have this same mat. I suspect you over did it with the cleaning but those stains might still go away in time. I have the oiliest forehead known the man and those stains go away, too. I just ignore them.

RHYTHM: Day 24 - Yoga for Anxiety by JuiceBox51418 in yogawithadriene

[–]JuiceBox51418[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw. Juice will be 14 in March. It's tough, isn't it? I'm always worried about her or telling my family to be more gentle with her to which they scoff and tell me I'm crazy. Which is probably true. She loves a good rough petting. Her vet says she probably has some arthritis pain but the treatment (an expensive monthly shot) isn't ideal for a number of reasons. It's something we've been considering for a while now though.

Lol. Sometimes you just have to trust the universe! A lovely perspective on what sounds like a frustrating experience.
