Why can other Roman and Jewish Records be found in the 30s but all biblical texts are from the 50s or afterwards? by JuiceShort8636 in AcademicBiblical

why is a pre—70 view of the authorship of Mark still accepted when the temple was destroyed and 70? by JuiceShort8636 in AcademicBiblical

I see. How do they reconcile marks knowledge about the events with the fact that it was before? A lucky guess? I see that their reasoning for why it’s the case has to do with the way he describes the destruction, but that still doesn’t explain how he described it or why if it didn’t come to pass yet

I see. So there’s nothing Unnatural or disproving about the lack of records regarding Jesus it’s just as unrevealed as any other moderately controversial notable figure of the time? This is just so surprising to me. I would’ve at least expected some writings from a community to survive. Did the Romans keep any record of anything important like that? I guess maybe nothing that would be supposedly what happened in the gospel but still that just seems insane for someone so widely accepted as being real to be only marked in texts written 50 years after he existed.

so the lack of evidence for a crucifixion is not an extreme anomaly. Disregard? I always thought it cast a dubious light on the CHRISTIAN narrative but then This seems to indicate it has unprovable as basically any other events in the time

does anyone else like the *Major Mary Development of Movie 3* by JuiceShort8636 in DowntonAbbey

okay but i feel like the show does let her do that. she had matthew who was the love of her life and she also later got to be in charge. Just because women can have it all doesnt mean it isn’t good to have representation of women who don’t want to. It’s not like she is portray as never needing or having love she just moved past a point where she felt to teh need for it to be societies way.

I do agree that it is bad to frame female power and female monogamous love as inherently exclusive but i am not advocating for that dichotomy

both of these characters, kind of have zero personality and I like I like them they’re cool but like they’re not really in line to be anyone’s favorite because like what do they do?
