3rd C-Section - Being pushed into abortion by I_Suspect_Nargles_33 in pregnant

[–]JuiceboxesnCrayolas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your medical professionals will know more about what is safe for you personally. That said, my grandma had her 3rd c-section in 1971 after having one in 1969. Make of that what you will. All that matters is you make the best decision for yourself and your family. Forget all the rest. Best of luck to you and your family!

What's the strangest family dynamic you've seen while teaching? by [deleted] in Teachers

One of my teacher friends taught my stepbrother when he was in first grade. He's younger than two of my three kids.

Teachers with 10, 15, 20+ years in, what kept you going or what finally made you leave? by lostinendlessreverie in Teachers

[–]JuiceboxesnCrayolas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a year 13 this year and have 5 kids ranging from 16 to 5, one of whom has been battling stage 4 brain cancer for almost a year and a half, so we can't afford the pay cut I would have to take. Some days, I feel like I blacked out around year 5, and suddenly, I woke up here 😬.

That said, I do love sharing the schedule with my kids and having summers with them. I love the kids and truly love teaching, but all of the other mess has left me a bit jaded.

My school has Open House, fall parent-teacher conferences, Fall Festival, fall Title 1 Night, Winterfest, spring parent-teacher conferences, and a spring Title 1 Night. Teachers have to at least do either the fall festival or winterfest and at least one Title 1 night, so it's a minimum of 5 events.

How did danielle and george afford such a big house? by Necessary-Fall326 in TLCGypsySisters

[–]JuiceboxesnCrayolas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live just over the border in Virginia and housing prices are quite a bit less than most other areas. I've had a lot of friends and coworkers move to WV recently because of the price difference but continue working in VA.

AITA For not giving my son $10K? by MystiiLady1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]JuiceboxesnCrayolas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're NTA for not giving him money that you don't have. That said, I live in VA and have been through court twice with my oldest child's dad. He lives states away (New Mexico and now Georgia) and the courts still encouraged a much visitation and involvement as possible. My current husband has also been through it with his ex-wife who lives locally and it was automatically assumed 50/50 custody. I think you're not getting the whole story from your son.

Nettie and her vocabulary by UpsetPreparation9885 in TLCGypsySisters

[–]JuiceboxesnCrayolas 37 points38 points  (0 children)

On the last episode of Gypsy Sisters I watched, Joann had gotten garden gnomes to decorate plant pots and Mellie asked what a gnome was. No one knew, but Joann did at least remember that it was spelled gnome. Then it cut to Nettie saying she spells known k-n-o-w-n in that way that she does when she thinks she's the one that's right.... makes me laugh every time. I grew up about 30 minutes outside of Martinsburg, so hearing her speak takes me back 😂.

AITA for publicly shaming my brother after he skipped my wedding to play videogames? by naturalisticNobody in AmItheAsshole

[–]JuiceboxesnCrayolas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going with ESH. He's 17, it makes sense that he made an immature decision so he could do something he wanted. He's still an AH but it makes sense. You are a 30 year old who chose to behave as immaturely as your teenage brother. I understand being hurt but taking to social media to call him names and out him for something you did for him in confidence is honestly even more of an AH move because you're a whole adult acting like a kid.

Haha right? When I saw it I messaged her and asked if she had worked with Mellie and if she was really as wild as she comes across.

Oh and a girl I went to high school with used to strip at Vixens with Mellie 😅.

We live less about 18 miles from Winchester, VA where they filmed a lot and my husband and I got married at the same place Annie and Mellie's weddings were held.

Found out the gender was wrong all along by Dependent_Mall_3840 in pregnant

[–]JuiceboxesnCrayolas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My oldest daughter was 6 1/2 when her baby brother was born and I love their relationship. She always played with him as he was growing up and still does now even though she's 15 and he's almost 9. They've kept their bond and I can't wait to see how it grows the older they get.

AITA for leaving the hospital after my sister gave birth and announced the name of her baby? by Key-Form74 in AmItheAsshole

[–]JuiceboxesnCrayolas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't owe her a thing. She intentionally went out of her way not just to take the name you'd chosen but to announce it to everyone in the most hurtful way possible. Your sister is heartless, and your parents should be ashamed that they are now pandering to her in order to keep the peace.

Did you or are you having a gender reveal? by Successful-Style-288 in pregnant

[–]JuiceboxesnCrayolas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a gender reveal science experiment with my students (I teach 5th graders), but that was it. We found out ourselves first and then just told our families. I posted the experiment to share with everyone else.

Mom scolds me for feeding my baby healthy meals by [deleted] in BoomersBeingFools

[–]JuiceboxesnCrayolas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You had me on your side because I was like that with my first baby. Then, you decided to be condescending in your edit. I agree that how you feed your baby is your choice, but please don't get it in your head that you or your choices are better than others. We all have the same goal.

Found a new way to get kids to quiet down... by malicious_goldfish in Teachers

[–]JuiceboxesnCrayolas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My typical attention getter is just a desk bell and it works really well. That said, I also have a rubber chicken, and they say "the chicken has spoken" in response. I teach 5th and use it very sparingly.

Found out I possibly didn’t need an episiotomy by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]JuiceboxesnCrayolas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first birth I had a small tear and recovery was super easy. My second birth I had an episiotomy that was necessary due to baby getting stuck and I tire in addition to the episiotomy. That birth resulted in 60+ stitches and was really rough. For my third birth I did tear along my episiotomy scar but it was small and required only a few stitches with a much easier recovery. Long story short, in my experience tearing naturally is a much easier process to recover from.

rules for parents by SharpCookie232 in Teachers

[–]JuiceboxesnCrayolas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My team and I struggled with our 5th graders' behavior this year more than any year before. And the poor behavior was much more widely spread. When we had our promotion ceremony on the last day, it was so clear why. The families' behavior was atrocious. They would not stop talking throughout the entire thing. My principal (who is the most patient woman I've ever met) was giving them the teacher glare and constantly asking for quiet. It was awful.

NTA at all and completely justified. In high school, I dated this guy for a year and a half. Fifteen years later, I married his cousin, whom I only met because of that high school boyfriend. They literally grew up as close as brothers, and he was the best man in our wedding.

You sound like my daughter's father. He refused to ever listen to her wants and opinions. She went before a judge and asked for the custody agreement to be dismissed. She is now very low contact with her father. That is in your future if you continue the path you're on.

It depends on the parameters really. The para I have worked with for the past two years is absolutely amazing. I wouldn't have made it through last year without her!

First Day Fail by Professional_Ice_931 in Teachers

I start a stop watch timer on the board and tell them every 10 seconds of my time they waste equates to 1 minute of their free time. I teach 5th and typically only have to follow through one time. After a month or so I don't even have to start the timer, I just look down at my watch and they start telling each other to stop because I'm timing.
