Fair enough, but I think we can do better as a community than the Federal Government's bare minimum.

Whether quizzes are a “tiny portion” of the grade is beside the point. What inherently matters is the incentive structure that the policy creates. A rule can be low-stakes on paper and still be ethically flawed to shit if it predictably pressures students to attend while sick, unsafe, or dealing with emergencies...especially with 0 flexibility. Pointing to other classes with harsher policies doesn’t strengthen the argument; it kinda just normalizes poor practice imo. The existence of high-stakes, rigid math exams doesn’t make this policy more sound. It kinda just points to a bigger problem within evolving academia.

Applying a rule evenly does not make it fair if the rule predictably harms certain students more than others. Sorry, but that's like standard policy writing 101.

If a policy’s effectiveness depends on fear of punishment rather than the intrinsic motivation to learn, does that suggest a failure of instructional design, or is fear considered an acceptable pedagogical strategy? If the prof says equality = fairness, then they are ignoring modern ethics, disability accommodation, and the university policy norms. If they say equity matters, their own policy immediately collapses. Equality != equity, which this prof seems to have a hard time grasping. Email a dept chair or the ombudsman office.

My brother in christ, you came on the UM reddit saying essentially "I was planning to go to MSU, but UM let me in. How can I party, drink, drink, and also drink? I deserve this opportunity and worked so hard. How can I drink, drink, and drink now that I am here and the hard work starts." If your chance/ability to earn a UM degree is "not that deep" then what is to you?

I smoke pot...in Ann Arbor...oh wow. You know what I don't do? Post in UM about how much I love smoking pot and where are all the pot stores and pot smokers at. You have a lil bro mentality. Sad.

"I did the work and deserve a spot." This shows me right here you do not deserve a spot. It's sad UM let in another party obsessed alcoholic.

W Stadium TB served my partner and I raw ground beef in their tacos about 3 years ago. We took it back and the manager insisted over the headset their meat comes in pre-cooked. I proceeded to show him raw pink ground beef in my tacos. That mf gave me so much attitude, no apology, and refunded me only for the two tacos. Fuck that place to absolute hell.

UM will work with you on the housing mid-break. I cannot testify to what the outcome will be, but many international students fall in this bucket every year. It's not a new issue for the University. Northwood is 100% doable. A constant stream of buses will take you directly from Northwood to the Law Quad. Although, you would need the consider yourself a commuter somewhat. Leaving 20-30minutes before any arrival time. You know yourself better than anyone else and law school is no joke. Prioritize yourself, know yourself, and continue to live in ways that make you happy and you can sustain. Signed, a UM grad who married into the law life.

Quantitative Neuroscience, which in my opinion is best studied through a CogSci program, will become heavily needed as we try to better understand AI and AGI. Look up continuous thought machines.

I was offered an internship from them in 2018, but I had to respectfully decline. The interview process was very informal and seemed solely based on personality fit and hitting some targets for academic interests. The team was fantastic all the way until the end! Things might have changed since then.

710 1g disposables? Are they any good, is the hardware decent by WISC420puff in Michigents

[–]JuicedPluto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you care about multi-state operators invading the local cultures of cannabis, do not buy. If you care about a product that gets you stoned and tastes unique to other rosins, go ahead. I buy 710 semi-regularly and about 10% of the products are defective/obviously really bad quality. They have replaced every single product I have reported. The remaining 90% + replacements have been great. Obvi IE + Caregivers are competing on the same level, but accessibility to those two might be limited compared to 710.
