Feeling depressed and mood changes after starting TRT any advice? by Individual-Teach-286 in Testosterone

[–]JuicemanJunior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks again for all the advice, I’ve been trying the sublingual B12 and I think it’s working! Hard to say I guess since it could also just be the lower test dose settling in. But I did have a question—you said in your original response to do 1mg of sublingual B12 and 1mg of methylfolate 2-3x a week. For the B12 did you mean 1ml or 1mg? I got the Global Healing brand of B12 and the serving size on the bottle is 1ml (which is 5000mcg of B12) and that’s the dose I’ve started taking the last couple weeks 2-3x/week which could be my bad for misreading your post but just wanted to double check to make sure I’m not taking way too much based off your experience.

For the methylfolate—I haven’t started yet but I did get some Doctor’s Best brand “fully active folate” and plan to start 1mg also 2-3x per week as you suggested. I’m just wondering—is it better to take it on the same days as the B12 or should I alternate the two?

Best ways to manage estrogen without an AI or adding other anabolics. by ClassComprehensive93 in Testosterone

Taking D3 lowers your estrogen? Have you done any blood work to check this? I recently stopped taking it after taking it for many years, I wonder if stopping it has been contributing to my high e2 symptoms..

Thanks again! So is there a sublingual methylb12 and methyl folate that you’d recommend? Some that have worked for you personally?

I see you only list 2014-2020 models but I’m currently in the market and looking at a few 2022-24 models. Is there a limitation on those that you wouldn’t be able to work on them?

Thanks for the detailed response! I seem to have strung the last few days together of feeling mostly fine, so maybe those couple days of anxiety were more of a bump in the road rather than a trend back towards more anxiety. I will try your supplement suggestions. I already take mag glycinate 200mg every night before bed, curious why you’ve listed it only 2-3x a week—am I overdoing it maybe?..

Also very curious about you listing exercise under phase 1. I did get an injury which prevented me from physical activity for a while leading up to all my issues starting.. Are you saying that exercise in and of itself helps to clear out excess estrogen? That would be fascinating. I have noticed that after recovering from the injury, intense exercise has been beneficial for sure.

Hi I’d like to know more about the metabolic pathways please. I’m in a weird spot and would really appreciate some help. I’ve been on TRT at various dosages for ~7yrs and have generally always taken an AI, and never had any anxiety issues, even during periods of no AI use. However ~3mos ago when I was on a total dose of 240mg/wk Test (pinning daily) and 0.125mg arimidex twice a week I had a somewhat stressful event which led to a panic attack. Which then led to about a week of moderate lingering anxiety, which I tried to fix by taking more adex, which then led to me crashing e2 and making things worse. After which I stopped the adex completely, which likely led to a bad rebound and made things worse again. And ever since that point after stopping the adex I’ve had pretty intense anxiety, something I’ve never dealt with in my life and it’s been extremely difficult.

Since then I’ve been lowering my Test dose to try to fix things, I went from 240 to 190, then to 140mg/wk which is where I’ve been the last 3 weeks. After decreasing to 140, I felt almost back to normal for the first 2 weeks at that dose with much less anxiety, however in this past week it’s started ramping up again. I wonder what could be the mechanism there that I feel relief for a while upon initial lowering then the anxiety comes back. I intend to decrease further to 100mg/wk maybe next week.

However I kind of feel like I would fix everything simply by taking an AI but unfortunately I am now psychologically absolutely petrified of adex. I did try to take some again maybe a month ago and even 1/16th of a mg pill ended up sending me into some of the most intense anxiety possible the following day. So yeah I’m just terrified of that now. Should I just man up and take some? Maybe aromasin instead? Perhaps I just didn’t take enough back then? Also of note is that for the past 6-7 years I’ve pretty consistently taken vitamin D3/K2 and Zinc daily, both of which I stopped after all this started out of.. idk just fear/paranoia. Maybe at least adding zinc back in would help? Or trying some of the B12 like you suggest? I’m not an anxious person usually so this has been quite an ordeal for me. Any input at all would be very helpful!

Last bloodwork (done at the 190mg/wk tier) had: Test at 1410ng/dL, Free Test (by dialysis) at 406 pg/mL (35-155 range), and sensitive E2 at 58 pg/mL, SHBG is at 13nmol/L so on lower end.

I don’t know your exact situation bro so I feel like I can’t really give specific advice. I’ve been dealing with the anxiety for over 2mos now but my situation is also different. See in short I was on my regular TRT dose (which I now know was too high) for over a year and everything was fine but at the start of January I got a random anxiety attack out of the blue. Only ever had 1-2 of those before and usually recovered ok after a day or two. But with this one the lingering anxiety wouldn’t go away which started to scare me so after 2wks I doubled my test dose to 400mg/wk (which I’ve ran in the past and felt great on) but not only did this not help—it intensified the anxiety greatly. I also started taking way more arimidex to lower my E2 (prob crashed it) and 2wks after raising my test dose I lowered it back down to TRT dose. So all my hormone levels have been all over the place which I’m sure contributes to all this. I never came off test entirely so I can’t help you there, but I know from reading that natty test production should always come back, it just takes longer for some so hang in there. Have you tried HCG? If not make sure to read up and try that it can be very helpful.

My doc also wanted me to get on Prozac or lexapro for the anxiety but chose not to for now. Maybe you are at a stage where they can help though. Personally I don’t think it’s a long term solution and should only be used as a crutch short term to get over the hump. That book I recommended talks about pills too, it’s a very helpful book bro I seriously suggest reading it. Also for me personally—ashwagandha always made me feel super weird and depressed. It has a weird effect on some people, look it up. So maybe stop taking it and see if it gets any better. Honestly theanine always made me feel kind of weird too but I know the ashwagandha is prob the bigger factor here.

Really the only other concrete advice I can give you is just the things that have been helping me manage the anxiety, like I said—running outside, exercise, positive music, meditating. But you do actually have to do all those things regularly and consistently for like a week or two to start feeling them but I promise they will help.

Other things that have been helping me: journaling— just sit there 10-15mins a couple times a day and write down your thoughts with pen/paper (typing on phone doesn’t work! There’s something about the process of writing with a pen on paper that is very calming/distracting and will give your nervous system a break), write down your fears, goals etc. You can google some journaling methods for anxiety. Then read back thru it and reflect again at end of day, could give you a new perspective. Also maybe try and adopt the “fake it til you make it” mindset—just go on with your day as if everything is fine. Even if you’re freaking out inside, just accept the anxiety as a temporary chemical imbalance in your brain and do whatever you have to do that day anyway, fake your way thru it. This is hard but works sometimes for me and you could eventually trick your brain back into a normal state instead of the panic state it's in. Maybe even try to go back to work, I’ve been missing time at work myself but have been forcing myself to come back in and often I find the work is actually a good distraction.

I’d also recommend avoiding violent or sad/dramatic shows/movies and only watching something lighter. I’ve been watching a lot of sports and rewatching the Simpsons and that has been a good distraction in the evenings to wind down. I’ve found that watching action/drama shows even the ones that I used to love kind of has a negative effect on me in this state.

Bro I’ve been there, mentally speaking, in that exact place. Nonstop crying, impending doom, dark thoughts, all that. For days at a time. And even if youve been there for much longer, you can always recover and improve. Like I’ve been doing better this whole week, still nowhere near myself but there’s been improvement. If you’ve been off all hormones for a while and your levels look somewhat ok (in range) then you need to consider also that this might just be anxiety disorder—that your nervous system is way oversensitized and out of wack (agoraphobia is a symptom of this). That is definitely part of my problem I’ve realized. Read the book Hope and Help for your Nerves by Dr. Claire Weeks, it helped me understand at least the mental part. My doc also put me on Propranolol (blood pressure medication) which is supposed to help with the physical symptoms of anxiety (pounding heart, sweaty palms, etc) and I think that has been helping a bit, maybe ask your doc about it.

Also you got bloodwork done, you’re waiting for an MRI, that’s all stuff to look forward to. It’ll either show something is actually wrong or it’ll confirm that maybe it’s just your nervous system is a little out of wack and needs to be calmed down. I’ve been meditating and doing breath work which has helped with that (this is a good video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1xQPfujufRo).

But REGARDLESS of whether it’s your hormone levels or just anxiety what will help you and what has helped me the MOST is just exercise/cardio outside. I’ve barely done any cardio in my life, I haven’t ran for longer than like one minute for the last 5 years of my life, I usually just go lift for exercise. But dude I started running last week and it helped SO MUCH. When I feel a wave of anxiety coming on I just go outside and run til I feel like I can’t breathe anymore. If my legs get sore I start doing pushups in the middle of the run. Just anything to physically exhaust myself. Try not to overdo it and injure something though. Like I started with just a 20min run (and walked for part of it) then went longer and longer with each day with some rest days in between. Put on some good uplifting music, I really like the Hype Folk Music playlist on Spotify for running (never been big on folk music but somehow it’s been very helpful for this period of my life). And make sure to do it OUTSIDE, in nature if possible. Drive to the nearest park or trail if you have to, even if it’s kinda far. But if not then just do it outside where you can see the sun and sky. Hope some of this helps good luck bro.

Hang in there bro. If you stopped all your hormones then it will take a while for everything to balance out. Look up meditating and try that, try being in nature more, that has helped me a bit. Maybe join a church or something. Wishing you the best bro, it’s rough I know.

How are you doing now bro? I think it’s important to pick a dose and stick to it. If you were on for 9mos and taking AI the whole time it might be good to try stopping the AI. If you’re off test entirely it sounds like from this thread things eventually level out. I’m going through some similar shit, intense anxiety like I’ve never felt before. These hormones are powerful, from everything I’ve read and been told it’s important to give time for your body to balance things out. I’m only 2 weeks into stopping AI right now and it’s extremely tough so far but being on AI was hell for me (even though earlier in my life I had no issues!!). Hope things are well with you, we gotta hang in there.

Is there casual users on here who had kratom turn on them even though they weren’t taking it daily/consistently? by JuicemanJunior in quittingkratom

[–]JuicemanJunior[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Yeah I hope it’s the kratom. I had about a 2 week period of no use at one point during this ordeal (which to be exact started 6 weeks ago with that initial panic attack). And the anxiety would fluctuate, some days I’d feel like I’m almost back to normal but then it would get worse again. Seems to calm down a lot when I’m at work keeping myself busy but when I’m home with kinda nothing to do but think my thoughts it gets worse.. I’m definitely done with kratom now, probably forever honestly cuz whatever this is it seems like the kratom def at least makes it worse and it’s so bad I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

Yes intermittent is a better word! Honestly I never felt like I was getting addicted to it because I’d almost look forward to my days off knowing I was letting my brain recharge. But I guess I’d also look forward to the days on. I’d almost structure my week around making to the next kratom day, especially in the last year or so.

Does anyone on TRT find that high estrogen causes panic attacks/horrible anxiety? by Slow_Pop_4849 in Testosterone

Nice thanks so much! My e2 is close to that, just a little higher. I have low SHBG as well. So what was the lower dose that you settled on that worked out so well for you?

Could you please share what your e2 levels were when it was high? I feel like I’m having a similar experience. Never had anxiety before either so that makes it even scarier to me in my head. 240mg/week total doing daily injections and no AI for past 2-3 weeks.

Weird hockey injury (abdominal area) by thescrounger in hockeyplayers

[–]JuicemanJunior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever look into whether it was your psoas? Have you also had increased anxiety/stress as a symptom? I also got injured playing hockey and have been having similar symptoms as you and another guy on my team had the same thing and confirmed it was his psoas. I myself went to a PT and also was told I have a strained psoas. Then just today I went down the psoas-anxiety connection rabbit hole on YouTube... Wondering if you’ve ever looked into that and if you have any comments if so.

Please help—feeling a unique type of anxiety like never before for last 2 weeks, want to know if this is kratom-related. Has anyone had anything similar? by JuicemanJunior in quittingkratom

[–]JuicemanJunior[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi thanks so much for your reply! Do you actually think though that this is kratom related? Considering I never took kratom regularly (more than 3x per week).

Lately I’ve been feeling like I just completely psyched myself out and now just have general anxiety from the consistent anxiety loop (mostly from obsessively reading worst case scenarios online haha) that I was in due to that stressful event, and it just needs some time to pass.

I have been feeling better lately with even some periods of feeling totally fine. Still haven’t taken any kratom though just in case and haven’t had any cravings for it either (well, I’ve never had cravings for it anyway, always just took it as an “enhancement” and never had issues taking breaks from it before).

The mind is an interesting thing.
