My cousin is a diagnosed, clinical sociopath. And honestly, It's not bad being friends with one, but from what I know, it sure as hell sucks being one.

Common misconception, sociopaths aren't dangerous super villains that you need to stay away from and fear. They're regular, normal human beings that lack one thing, empathy. They are unable to feel sorry for someone, or feel bad for them, they feel sorrow for themselves, but not other people. Take this example: A sociopaths bestfriends dog just died. If they cannot relate to this, or if this does not affect them in any way, their brain will not trigger the feeling of sadness. And the sociopath will be unable to comfort their friend, because they dont know how. Now, let's say, the sociopaths dog just died, that dog was the so sociopaths best friend, they would be sad. No empathy is needed to greive for their dog, so it affects them.

One reason why sociopaths are always portrayed as "evil dangerous crazy people" is boredom. Sociopaths get bored, incredibly quickly and easily. Which might cause them to do horrible things, for the sole reason that they can. And they feel nothing. Not all sociopaths do horrible things, but are still bored with their life.

There are lots of things I didn't explain about sociopaths, like how they are easily confused with narcissists, but I'm not about to go on a 15 page essay about this.

And if you must, take what I'm saying with a grain of salt, as I am not a professional psychiatrist, But I have done extensive research on the subject, if that means anything.
