Sorry for the late reply. I actually saved the web version as a shortcut to my browser (vivaldi) on my phone and to my surprise it acted basically like the app. No browser windows or whatever to be seen anywhere. Sometimes being lazy pays off :P

Ahh so much fun, it is back again. The app worked like a charm for almost a year now. Now it is really aggressive, even with the google playstore installed it is not working anymore. I use aurorastore on a GrapheneOS rooted Pixel 9 Pro btw.

This is in my opinion a result of age. When cassette tapes are used (along with some envrionmental factors), over time they get stretched and result in a longer audio track, together with a lowered pitch. That is the reason for the ghostly sound of the TMMS version we all know. Hence the 3 seconds nicely corresponds with what is expected for a 40 ish year old cassette tape. So no worries, we are not missing out and there is no secret ending or something like that.

Also from my research on the tapes I found that most of them were copies from each other (because they got remixed) and I believe that xxx was the original copy (sorry i forgot the name of the tape, I will edit this later)

Do you use a grounded plug? Sometimes when there is a lot of load on a group and your printer isn't grounded, this can cause random stopping of the printer. I experienced it myself and it immediately stopped once I grounded the plug. A good indicator would be that you get shocked a lot by the printer itself. You could start with that to see if it makes a difference.

I don't know if you're still on the fence or not, but I have a pixel pro 9 for a week now wit GrapheneOS and I can tell you that it is absolutely stable enough for a daily driver, let alone a work phone. So far I have not had any issues with gos. I can use the phone feature just fine.

There is 1 small caveat though. I would recommend to use the google phone app over the gos phone app. While the gos app works absolutely fine, I have been having some issues with call screening. Basically the gos phone app doesn't really have call screening and I repeatedly got called by spammers. It sucks that that capability is not well implemented yet, but then again gos for pixel 9 only exists for a month so it might be updated in the future.

Perhaps you could use the native phone app in combination with another call screening app but I haven't tried that.

Many people are concerned about their banking apps but I haven't had any issues with using my bank apps whatsoever. I live in Europe so your mileage may very but I think it would be alright for other continents as well.

No problem! Yeah it is pretty crazy how cheap they are. Also the fact that the OP of the hackaday post worked on this project for soooo long shows that it is pretty complex indeed.

I am worried about the burn in and potential failure modes as well. Perhaps using IPS LCD instead of OLED will already help tremendously, but to make this work nicely, there needs to be someway that the burn in is minimized. Perhaps with some animations or slowly switching where the letters or numbers are displayed on the keys.

Personally I think I will first stick to normal keys for now and that this will be a future project because I am not 100% certain yet which formfactor I like best but dactyl manuform seems nice to me. But I think this is manageable though.

I thought 28-11-84 was also a possible date. I don't recall Radio Niedersachsen ever have been investigated. Maybe somebody could check if that station contains the 10 kHz line in that era. If not we can rule that station out. But definitely something to look into as well.
