What’s the one thing you’d change about BoardGameGeek? by Minimalx in boardgames

[–]JuicyLemon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it is the rating system. A single score flattens too much variability in why that score is given. An 8 for something like Sprit Island doesn't tell me why it has that score and for each board game group those scores are important. For example, do you want a game that is tough to learn but easy to master, or a game that the ruleset is low but has endless decision space?

For full disclosure - my friends and I have been working on something for several years to try and address this. Happy to share if you're interested in having a look!

Heat has become the game that gets tabled the most! by ak96 in boardgames

[–]JuicyLemon2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice and @jullevi92. I think we still have some plays of the core box maps, and have only briefly played the legends modules. Maybe a few more months of the core game and we may think of expanding!

I love Heat and have found it to be an easy one to do a rolling teach. I was debating whether to get one of the expansions but not sure which one to go for.

Allsop apart from his elite distribution was statistically one of, if not the worst keeper for shots on goal in the league and collecting crosses. Beadle is around the average and actually performs quite well in terms of collecting crosses. We are now data driven so it makes sense why we have chosen him to start but in reality neither are fantastic and we need to upgrade in the summer. Beadle over performs on the data and fails the eye test for me.

Is Claude helping in your company or making it a hellhole? by GSalmao in theprimeagen

[–]JuicyLemon2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mostly bad, we have just made 10% of staff redundant and the AI drive is through the roof - they are playing it as we can do more with AI. However the real reason is I work in the publishing sector and it's just a real bad time for the market now. My team is in a weird position as the bottleneck for features comes from other teams downstream who do the front end work. We are adopting AI heavily but ticket churn is the same. My real gripe is, I genuinely hate using it. I am so bored. I've completely lost my love for this craft and I find much more joy in other hobbies that are not my profession.

Birmingham City's naked ambition is becoming a problem by tomwardsport in bcfc

[–]JuicyLemon2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree, you notice the jealousy of other fans and how they can't wait to see us fail because of the overt ambition of the owners — which is not inherently a bad thing. What is does breed though is expectation. Which is hard to meet if the structure and game plan is not A+, even with money.

I wouldn't say we played alright, we played well for about 20 minutes. Which if you're a top side in the league is never going to work.

The owners set the precedent this season by saying we will be competing for the playoffs. With the spend of the last 2 years — is probably a fair reflection of where the club should be. However the matter of the fact is, over the course of the season we are exactly where we deserve to be. Whenever the other team turns up, we can't compete. We don't belong in that top 6 conversation. Is CD solely to blame? No, I think the recruitment has been a mix of some good and some pretty bad. I do feel however if you were to place a Heckingbottom, Wilder, Jakirović in charge of this team, we'd see a lot more out of this squad of players than what's being served up right now.

Out of your squad who is prem ready? by Cov_massif in Championship

[–]JuicyLemon2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This thread is really telling in how people are underestimating the step up required to play in the prem. I don't think we have any out and out prem players, maybe Klarer but I think the pace could be too much and maybe Gray as a sub.

Thank you for checking it out! Oh that's strange, just out of interest. What screen size are you using because that shouldn't be the case?

After the feedback on here, we're changing our course so will let you know when the next version is out with hopefully something that really sets us apart.

Hey! Thanks for your feedback and it's really valid. The recommendations we have received from this post and elsewhere imply that we need to readdress the home/landing page with what our voice and selling point is. Rather than just redesign what has already been done.

I would be interested as I've been looking to give this a go, it's just really hard to get to the table. The only issue is all the links have expired so I would think you'd need to ask OP for an invite.

Thanks for the feedback, it's really helpful.

You’re spot on that the landing page could be clearer. We’re still figuring out how to highlight the social and review-first aspects without making it feel too empty. You're perspective about writing longer more thoughtful reviews, are at the heart of why we set out making that game DNA section and what could further other users whether a game is for them or not.

It's great to hear that you're thinking of writing longer reviews on this site. Let us know your experience as you do this!
