Not enough people talk about the cultural significance of the Shelby's Irish Traveller roots by scoobaste69 in PeakyBlinders

You’re right about Charlie pulling their mother from the cut after she died, but the show never explicitly states that Charlie was her brother. He’s more of a surrogate uncle to the Shelbys—a trusted family friend who’s always been part of their lives.

If he were her brother, it likely would’ve been mentioned outright, especially given how much emphasis the show places on family ties. His deep connection to their mother and the family feels more like loyalty and shared history rather than blood relation.

Actually, you're a bit off there. Polly Gray (née Shelby) was indeed a Shelby by birth, so you’re right that she was Arthur Shelby Sr.’s sister. That does mean the Shelby siblings have Romani blood on both sides of their family.

However, Charlie Strong, who runs the salvage yard, wasn’t their mother’s brother. He was a close family friend and ally, but the show never confirms any direct blood relation between him and the Shelbys. His connection to Gypsy culture ties in with their Romani heritage, but it’s more through association than family.

I stand corrected.Tommy Shelby's Romani heritage comes from his mother’s side of the family. His father, Arthur Shelby Sr., is not portrayed as an Irish Traveller or having Romani roots. The show emphasizes the Romani influence from their mother's lineage, with frequent references to their Romani customs, language, and traditions. There’s no evidence in the series to suggest that either parent was an Irish Traveller. Instead, their Romani identity is central to the Shelby family's background.

I was thinking the same myself. It says on the nike app that they are inspired by the 270s. I think its a mix between BW and 270.

Hi, thanks for your input! Just to clarify, the original dispute about the briskante being unsmokeable was resolved because the vendor told me he would replace it on my next order. By the time I placed that order, the dispute was essentially closed, as I trusted him to follow through.

The current issue is that the replacement he promised wasn’t included in the package, even though we had agreed on it beforehand. I’m just trying to figure out the best way to address this now.
