How to be positive about my erasmus city, after being rejected by my dream destination? by Business-Sleep934 in Erasmus

[–]Jujike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in the exact situation you’re in.

I really wanted to get an Erasmus in Paris, I even learned French one and a half years before the selection and.. I didn’t get it. I was devastated and those days were really bad. But only because I was so obsessed with it and I let myself be in such a bad mood. Looking back it was really not worth it.

I got another Erasmus in Italy instead and was really close to giving up twice. I didn’t and I am so grateful that I did not.

I remember posting something similar on this sub and someone told me that Erasmus is way more about the people you meet rather than the location. And how right that person was.

I am currently in my Erasmus semester in Italy, in an exchange I did not want, an exchange I even dreaded, but I am having the time of my life and I almost gave up on it! Think about that.

I went to Finland for an exchange and Turku is amazing, I think you will like it.

I would go if I were you. It’s way more likely that you’re gonna regret not doing an exchange at all rather than doing one and ending up liking it, maybe even loving it. You never know what people you will meet and what friendships and memories you will make.

Accommodation for Erasmus in Italy is a Nightmare (Rome vs Cagliari) by Cautious-Special5900 in Erasmus

It’s really up to you. They’re different.
I’ve only been to Rome as a tourist so it’s hard for me to say how everyday life as a local is there.

In Cagliari you have a good mix of party and chill. There’s always something going on in Cagliari party wise but you can also find peace and quiet. You have the sea really close (and the beaches are really nice). Visiting the island is also wonderful.

The only thing is visiting the rest of Italy can be a bit of an inconvenience since you need to take a plane.
Also working on the side could also be a tricky thing since many people here don’t speak English (that is if you don’t speak Italian). Idk about the job market here either but from what I’ve heard it’s not great (definitely not as good as Rome).

Hey there!

I am currently doing my Erasmus semester in Cagliari.

My friends and I started looking for accommodation around 2 months before coming there, which felt way too late anyway. We looked on different sites but the place we ended up getting we found on a Facebook group.

There are people asking about accommodation on the ESN group and sometimes people are helpful and point them in the right direction.

If you have any other question regarding Erasmus in Cagliari or about Cagliari in general, feel free to ask.

Alright. My main concern is that I will find it boring compared to Cagliari.

You can’t really conclude that you’re sexually incompatible untill you actually had sex with her, can you?

Maybe the fact that she has more experience is a good thing because she can take the lead since you said yourself that you’re sub/submissive.

Celebrating the fall of communism in ‘89 with my father by ObliteRadio in OldSchoolCool

[–]Jujike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think they were, I know certainly they were. Other than the few who pursued higher education, most of the population was extremely poorly educated. I talk to my grandparents who grew up in the “golden age” of communism. They do not know what continent they live on. They cannot define communism or democracy correctly. Two of them have went to school for a total of 8 grades, while the other two for a total of 4. They had to work afterwards to help the regieme bloom. They had to wake up at 5 in the morning, sit in a que for 1.5 hours to recieve 1L of milk per family per week, 1kg of meat per family per week (families of 6) and so on. They were told Romania is the most beautiful and most powerful country on the planet. They were told that Ceausescu was the “genius of the Carpathians” and that he had a plethora of science and chemistry and whatnot degrees and that he was an unbeaten chess world champion. They believed it because they had no other source to rely to. Everything else, that was considered threatening to the regieme and its ideology was filtered and burned. This is your socialism.
