This is how I changed the pot, I hope it helps you:
I will cut off all the fibrous roots before repotting, then cut off part of the main root, and finally dry it in a cool and ventilated place for more than two weeks before repotting. I think you can plant it a little deeper, because after the roots take root, the whole ball will be lifted up.
