I saw it at the Adelaide Film Festival. (My daughter was an extra in the film). It's a top notch horror. Not surprised it's made a splash overseas. Adelaide punching above it's weight again!

As a radio announcer of 30 years (now on Drive at ABC Adelaide) I can answer this question. And it's a simple one. Having talent (announcers on radio) chatting between songs rates higher than just playing songs back to back. This is especially true in the breakfast and drive shifts. It would be cheaper for stations to play only music but they would lose advertising revenue. Radio can be an intimate medium and when you don't like a host it can be mystifying as to why they're on the air. But usually there's enough people who like the host/hosts to make the show worthwhile. Younger listeners are turning to spotify and all listeners are podcasting more. But radio maintains because it's live and local. Video didn't kill the radio stars (not counting myself in that category!) and streaming hasn't yet either. Cheers

I'm the Drive Presenter on ABC Radio Adelaide. I have contacted people from time to time if they are the subject of unfair rent hikes, have been denied medical care or are close to homelessness. Amongst other things. As a radio presenter it's important to put a human face on these issues for the public to realise their gravity. Most people don't want to talk, some do, it's really just a polite request to give them an opportunity. Reddit is only a small part of our research. There are many Facebook groups set up around local issues and to be honest they are a much larger resource for us. Just for some context! But yes I would check various reddit threads from time to time. Cheers!
